Is it just me or is that forum not as fun as it used to be? All the new fans (though there are some excellent ones), "Ming is a bust", "Francis is a shooting guard in a point guard's body", "Mobley is a ballhog", "KT sucks", "Fire Rudy", etc. threads are way too depressing for me. I barely post in that forum now because there a billion new threads everytime I log on.

It should be called "Jump the Gun" forum.

It's unbearable. In fact, it's reached the point where EVERY thread sounds exactly the same. Where have all the good discussions gone?

I agree. I know I contribute to that criticism, but it's getting a little too much. However, I think that criticism is good for the board. It makes it more objective and opens up new ideas. But there's a lot of nonconstructive criticism in that forum.

How about this idea: if you're going to criticize, you must offer a solution to the problem. Otherwise, refrain from criticism.

The only thing that I've found to work so far is if I put every single registered user on my ignore list and then read the Rockets forum.

It's kinda sad because I miss so many good post... I just get tired of reading the junk so I skip most threads unless I know who started them.

Exactly. The board already went through this 6 months ago.

http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?threadid=29979

In my opinion, the only thing worse than those who are b****ing nonstop about the Rockets are those who are b****ing nonstop about those who are b****ing nonstop about the Rockets. It is making it so much worse. I suggest you not feed posts or replies that you don't like and start/join the discussions that you do. Report trolls or problem users -- I'll handle them. If there are two identical discussion threads, let me know also -- I can merge them. But realize that the site has grown tremendously since Yao Ming came to town, fans are passionate, and frustration and complaints come with the territory (justified or not) -- you can't expect me to censor that.

That's my suggestion. If you just can't stand seeing it any longer though, let me know and I can turn just that forum off specifically for your account.

Clutch, I definitely don't want the forum disabled for my account. It was the main reason I began visiting the site and there is still plenty of great information/posts.

I doubt there is a solution to this, with so much traffic now the board has changed and everyone will have to accept it and remember that it is still the best fansite on the web. :)

Maybe there could be a way to filter threads by seniority of thread starter?

Here are a few thoughts :

1) There are lots of people griping about the good posters don't post anymore in the GARM forum. But then I don't see many of the posters that are complaining posting, either. Start posting.

2) Ignore stupid responses and obviously lame threads. I swear the thing that pisses me off about that forum the most is that people will hammer on new/lame posters in the threads or make a snide remark and push the thread back up to the top again. At that point the dogpile starts... while all this is going on, decent threads with responses by people like NIKEstrad, verse, etc. are getting shoved down to the bottom. The worst case is when someone posts something stupid like "Ming should be a Jazz" and of course everybody has to pile on and the thread has 80 responses all saying "you suck" or "go home jazzhole". The sad thing is that the guy that started the thread has only 2 or 3 of the 80+ posts in the thread. The troll just succeeded.

3) Clutch has started a game commentary thread for every game that's a sticky at the top of the page to help reduce the clutter. Read it. Respond in it.

4) Quit whining about the "good ol' days". You all sound like a bunch of old coots sitting on your cyber-porches. There're still good discussions to be had in some of those threads. Yeah they may be harder to find, but with a larger bbs, what do you expect?

5) Some of the best basketball discussions after the game occur in chat. People like tpl, Runnin Raven, leebigez, and some displaced NY guy that changes his nick everyday NYKRule, among others usually hang around and talk about the game. It's pretty cool, and it's in realtime. Think of it as an extension of the bbs.

6) Hey, how about a minor league and major league forum... only the select best post in the major league forum. The minor leaguers have to work their way up to the major leagues. Yeah, ok, I'm dreaming... :)

Anyway... there ya go. :)

I agree with everyone of yall. To tell you the truth, I mainly joined this thread for the Hangout, because the main reason was the people that killed the sense of being a fan in the first place. That forum is great during the offseason because no one can criticize anything until the season starts. During this whole off season, I would go straight to the Rockets Thread, then Hangout. Ever since the season started it seems that someone in there is going to start something dumb and ruin my day, so I choose to go to Hangout first now.

That's a Rookie mistake gramps. You're being sent down to the minors to fix your posting mechanics.

A friend of mine told me about this site back in April while I was home in Houston on vacation. I had no idea what type of site this was. It took me a couple of months before I logged on (I was thinking that this was a regular Rocket.com site). I've considered myself an avid Rocket fan since we drafted Dream so obviously I was pleasantly surprised to find people that I could debate with on the virtues of Vernon Maxwell, Charles Barkley, et al. My only complaint was that I hadn't stumbled upon this place years ago. After further thought though maybe it was a blessing. In my short tenure I've seen the forum meltdown from Go Rockets to MINGMINGMINGMING and STEVESUXSTEVESUXSTEVESUX. It has almost become unbearable. I can only try to imagine the drastic decline that veteran posters have had to endure. Everyone seems to be too emotional and respond to everything irrationally. I've fell victim to that syndrome on occasion as well. Fortunately I DO resist the urge to chime in on the TRADE CAT FOR TERRELL BRANDON type threads. Pure insanity.
If only I didn't become a member during the Summer of Yao. I regret being lumped in with that cast of characters. I apologize for us all. :(

I was all ready to pile on and then Clutch posted and inspired me to try and be part of the solution. Thanks for slumming in the Hangout, Clutch. I'll put my money where my mouth is before I b**** again.

Thank you for making this thread the bashing in the games forum has become intolerable. I trust that Clutch will do something to make it better for all of us who normally just read the threads instead of posting.

I was starting to lose faith in the team everytime i checked in and we have just played 4 games and even won 2 of them.

I am not a senior member or anyone important but I would wish all the negative posters would just disappear to Hoopsworld or fanhome or something.

I remember when ZRB was the only negative poster but I liked his way, because you could tell he loved the team.

Maybe we need to start a new club..Please Ignore The Trolls...P*I*T*T*. DoD makes a good point that people jumping on the dogpile of bad topics just makes the situation worse.

However, perhaps Clutch could make a Rants forum to alleviate the pressure of some of the negative posting? That way the game action forum could return to discussions of plays (which I love). Posters who want rag on Steve, Cuttino, etc could be directed to join those of like minds in the Rants forum.
