Not a huge fan of soccer, but turned on the game at the 50 minute mark and could not turn it off. Crazy great game.

Argentina finally bringing some offense against an overmatched Costa Rica. Should be about 6-0, but for Higuain's profligacy in front of goal.

First game without Lavezzi starting and the gang is rollin. Coaching mistake, Higuain, Messi and Aguero are deaaaadly. Higuain hurtin his stock though, not playin good.

you can't put this on Messi.

I'm sure the Man city fans loved the Teves choke job.

Fantastic game, very happy to see Uruguay win (even though I enjoy Argentina, too). Uruguay played a very chippy style, but they deserved to win the shoot-out. One of their advantages against Argentina was always defense, particularly at goalkeeper. Muslera is world-class and showed it in the shoot-out where he stoned Tevez and nearly blocked another (can't remember the shooter). Argentina's undoing has always been on the defensive side.

That being said, Messi played really well. The red card set them back, but I thought they still played nice on the attacking end. Uruguay just had the better keeper at the end.

Apologies for the double-post. What did you think of Peru beating Colombia? I seem to remember Swoly saying that Colombia was the dark horse this year and I agreed. They just didn't have it today and Peru had the better legs in extra time.

    It was an awesomee game

Argentina got great players but they don't really work like a cohesive unit.

Messi played well from the middle as the playmaker...
Di Maria was good in 1st half and disappear in the 2nd
    Higuain did his job
    Aguero was far below par
    Zabaleta was shooting the sky
Burdisso and Milito did not seem like a very solid backline.. especially Milito was really having a hard time with Suarez
    Mascherano got a red...typical
Pastore was disappointing...was lucky enough his penalty bounced in off Muslera's hand

Uruguay is a great team.. they seem to know each other so well...

I wonder where's Cavani, is he injured?
Suarez terrorized Argie's backline...performance reminiscent of the one for Liverpool against Man United
Forlan was so active and setting up for others
Perreira was darting from the Left
Diego Perez was rough..hence a red
Rios was having a nightmare trying to handle Messi
Lugano was great at the back
Muslera was world class...too bad Lazio could not keep him :(

Would love to see Uruguay play in the next round
