Never opened up to BTH until I downloaded an unreleased track they did with DMX. It showed me what I had been missing- thx for the tip DT, I need to hear this now.
Well put oily. 2Pac was on a level by himself. While bad rappers maybe on a 1, good rappers on a 5, and great rappers a 9 or a 10 2Pac was definitely a 12. He could make songs about serious subjects (Ex: "Brenda's Got a Baby" and "Keep Ya Head Up") or he could hit you with some really hard material (Ex: "Hit 'Em Up" and "Bomb First (My Second Reply)") then he could come back with some party jams (Ex: "How Do U Want It" and "California Love") and then some sad songs (Ex: "Dear Mama" and "Life Goes On"). Yeah, 2Pac was definitely multi-dimensional musically and was definitely on another level. My favorite quote about him, though I can't remember who said it was this: "Many people have a plan B. 2Pac had a plan E much less a plan B". The man was deep y'all.
I agree with you about Pac. The man was a bad ass. But here's why I like the group I started this thread about... Bone is on a level by theirselves. Yeah, Bone is definitely multi-dimensional musically and is definitely on another level. These men are deep y'all. I pulled all of those tracks off of this one CD. It would have been the same if I had pulled from their last 4 albums instead...but this one's so tight that it has all that rolled into a 16 track disc.
hmmm.....I've listened to bone and I don't think you can put them on a level with pac, big, nas, or especially not on the legendary underground acts like Swollen Members or Jurrasic 5. Bone is like someone said from cleveland, I'm originally from the Nati home of DJ Hitek, J. Rawls and RJD2. So when you think hiphop in the OH Bone ain't on my list. I look at it like this. What do they bring to the table? This is just my opinion but they are bringin the same junk with different titles. I'm not saying you can't like them, I'm explaining why I'll pass on this one.
Okay, but what I was saying is this album (to me, at least) is their first revolutionary one since their first one. It's not the same track 16 times, they actually matured enough to put out some diverse stuff...the dudes are only in their mid-to-late 20s after all. They somehow changed their style up to where it's not all soft like it sometimes is, but it's not all monotonous either, which they are notorious for. (That's why they call 'em Notorious Thugs)<-corny joke, sorry.
Nothing personal and they may be decent people, but I never liked BTH. You're better off buying the latest Scarface album. BTW, the Roots' new album comes out Nov. 26th.
Jwun I feel you on Hi-Tek. The album he did with Talib Kweli was off the hook. He's one of my favorite producers.
You make it sound like 'The Fix' was a bad album. Face put it down on that album. Does anybody know when Talib Kweli's album drops?
I got it. Its really dope. I thought it was gonna be called "Kwelity", but its called "Quality" so I guess he changed it. standout cuts so far.... Gun Music- ft. Cocoa Brovaz (sounds like beatminerz prod, but I got a promo and it doesn't have much info cept track titles.) Put it in the Air- ft. DJ Quik (I'm guessin this is DJ Quik prod. sounds West Coast but not G-funk) Guerilla Monsoon Rap- ft. Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch (sp) and Kanye West Good To You- super dope my fav so far Get By- Nother bomb track Waitin For the DJ- the first single that been pretty hot in my pool Plus Guest shots from: Vinia Mojica- No nuskool album is complete w/o her vocals Xzibit Res Mos Def Kendra Ross Bilal cop it, I heard it comes out Nov 15th on vinyl or the tues of the next week everywhere. But I'm not sure.
I've heard 2pac and Daz Dillinger were coming out with a Cd or somecrap Well no doubt 2Pac is THEEE BEST rap artist ever
Jwun how did you get the album already? Did you burn it? My favorite joints off the album are "Good to You", "Waitin for the DJ" and there is this song that he did live that was fire. I forgot the name of the song though. I was also wondering why he changed the spelling of the album. Oh and "The Fix" gets heavy play on my cd player.
