Just got word from a computer guru an alpha copy has leaked and they will have to come out with a new graphics card to run it. Anyone tried it?

Yes, there's a leaked alpha copy that's a bit buggy.
    No, I haven't tried it.
Yes, the graphics are pretty sweet.

My friend has the alpha copy. I don't know if it worked on his computer though. One of my friends has a graphics card that can run it, but I do't know if he has done it yet.

    Ehem,

I have the ATI 9700 Pro, and have tried the Doom 3 alpha version, it is visually stunning, but the game play is the same old stuff from the original.

However the tranistions from in game cinematic to game play is really nicely done.

All in all, I think they have a LOT of work gameplay wise to catch up to BF1942, or NOLF-2 etc....as both of them have upped the anti significantly on the gameplay side.

When are we gonna get some more Nazi-slaughtering Castle Wolfenstein action?

Dude if you like the Nazi slaughtering...then play BF1942 for the best multiplayer action ever created.

Now, if you like story, then try Medal of Honor Allied assault....and the sequal which comes out next tuesday.

I got this on my BAMF hub. I have a XP1900+ with a geforce3 ti200 and a Gig of RAM. This is probaly visually the greatest computer game I have ever seen. If anyone wants a copy email me DrewP@houson.rr.com and I will point you in the right direction.

It sounds like Doom 3 wasnt as bad (system requirement wise) as originally anticipated. I have a P4 2.66 NW, 1GB 1066 RDRAM and a Geforce 4 Ti4600 and had heard that I might be left out because it would require a Radeon 9700 just to run properly. Carmack is always pushing the envelope.

I've played it on the following system, and realised that if I want to play the full game, I may need ... ahem ... will need a bit of an upgrade before doing so. BTW I ran the game as a window with a res of 640x480!! and it was still quite choppy....

    1700+ XP CPU, 384MB RAM, GeForce 4 MX440 (64MB), Windows XP

A bit off topib, but isn't there a Doom based movie in the making? I heard some rumours a few months ago about it, but now it seems dead. Apparently The Rock was going to be the main character....anyone heared that?

Perhaps when i am over DaDak could organise a link-up session when we could play the classics including Wolfenstein and Doom (we used to always play Map7)
