900 million dollars were spent on TV advertising for this election cycle . That's just sick. It will be interesting to see how McCain-Feingold affects future elections, or if it even survives the courts.
$700M for a pro football team in ONE city...$900M spent NATIONWIDE on campaign ads. Doesn't really seem that out of line if you keep it in perspective.
Both are ridiculous refman, but since you brought it up: Tony Sanchez has spent 50 million dollars on a job that will pay him on average 250k per year. What's wrong with that picture?
He wants power. That is what he tried to buy with that money. Bob McNair (God bless him for bringing us football) spent $700M to buy a football team...what is the payback period on that investment? He wanted the challenge and prestige associated with being the guy bringing the NFL back to Houston. It's all about what you want to spend your money on. JMHO
could someone give someone else who doesn't pay much attention to news or politics [me] a brief synopsis on what "McCain-Feingold" means?
Yeah, but I get enjoyment out of watching football. I don't get it out of watching politics. Maybe that's what it is... hmm.
Last time i looked the average joe isnt going to fork out 50 bucks to watch congress in session. One is an investment, the other is, well I dont know what it is. 900 million dollars. . . . . for what a bunch of jobs that dont pay more than 300k a year.
McCain-Feingold will hopefully be a Presidential ticket in the next election cycle . The phrase doubles as representing a certain campaign finance reform bill. There's lots of available information on the subject on the internet.
As I said before...it all depends what an individual or group wishes to spend their money on. I favor some kind of campaign finance reform...but until such becomes law it isn't for me to question how they spend their money.
Oh, absolutely. I mean the fact that I pay somebody to play a game and allow me to watch them is kind of funny in that respect, too.
How much do the automated calls to my house from every candidate in Texas cost? This dollar amount would really piss me off. In the last 5 days I've averaged 7 political advertisement calls a day.
