i remember breaking down on the Pierce Elevated on the wrong side with no shoulder. i saw a cop car coming and expected him to at least help with the traffic. nope, he just drove by and yelled, "Get the car off the freeway!" Thanks officer, that was really sage advice.
At least they acknowledged you. The incident I mentioned was nearly 5 years ago and it still pisses me off.
Whenever I think I'm being trailed by a cop and I'm sure he's either profiling me or waiting for me to slip up to fill a quota, I go troll mode on the cop. I slow down to speed limit, wait til the next stop light, either put my hazards on and pull over or pull into the lane beside the cop and roll down my window to ask a question on directions. Works. Every. Time. No cop yet has pulled me over after I had pulled myself over to ask him a question.
Metro is currently under pressure to generate revenue and are on a ticket blitz. The design was idiotic to start with....but Metro does need to have some level of enforcement to prevent the rail from becoming a hobo wagon. It can be bad at times.
As someone who rides Metro every day, I have no problem whatsoever with cops cracking down on people who don't pay fares. I don't care whether they're trying to get to the homeless shelter or the River Oaks Country Club. Pay your fare.
