Well, for starters: this dude pretty much serves as a microcosm of why being a Pirates fan has been so painful for the past 20 years. He was complete crap while he was here. No power, couldn't hit the ball. Now he's putting up Barroid type numbers. I'll say the obvious: steroids won't make you hit the ball more. His batting average has steadily increased ever since he got to Toronto so it's very possible any combination of coaching + mechanics + scouting could explain his surge in recent years. I just still have my doubts about explaining the power numbers, though. If he's passing all the tests -- great. I just won't be surprised if I hear otherwise at some point. And yes, if you consider yourselves a baseball fan you should know who statistically one of your best players is.
