Waka Flocka Flame sent an errant tweet earlier this week saying that he’s had enough of the rap game and planned on retiring at the end of the year. While no explanation was given, his manager/mother Debra Antney confirms that the “No Hands” rapper is calling it quits.

“He talking about quitting. He's sick of this. We all are,” she told RumorFix.com. “We're all disgusted with this stuff. You can't trust people."

As far as getting new music from Waka, Antney says he isn’t recording or planning out touring right now and that they’re focusing on building back up their relationship as mother and son, as opposed to manager and artist.

UPDATE: Waka Flocka Flame called into the Ryan Cameron Show today to confirm that he is quitting rap. “Yup, absolutely true. I’m tired of going through what I go through, and punk asses always rain on my world. There’s so much different haters, fake smiles, different hugs,” he said. “I’d rather work at Walmart than rap, and that’s my word on God. Yup, I put that on Jesus Christ. I’m not lying or nothing.”

He also justified his exit strategy as a consequence of the hip-hop lifestyle. “It’s something I could never explain to people because they could never understand it, ‘cause they not living the lifestyle. At the end of the day, the people who’s living the lifestyle could understand why I’m doing it.”

Dude had killer beats, but damn did his lyrics suck.

I can't really blame him, though, because that's what Hip Hop is all about these days. Real lyricists like Lupe Fiasco and Talib Kweli are forced to dumb their stuff down and throw in big choruses just to sell records. J. Cole, who I literally can't skip a single track on his mixtapes because he's so good, is forced to put out mixtape after mixtape because his record label keeps pushing his debut album back.

Meanwhile, Lil' Wayne is selling millions and millions of copies with recycled lines and meaningless lyrics. And Rick Ross... my goodness. I don't even know what to say about that guy.

Dude, what do you mean you can't blame him? One would think you were talking about Lupe, Talib or J.Cole quitting the game. It's Waka unintelligible Flocka. He's part of the reason Hip Hop is in the depths it is today. You mention meaningless lyrics, doesn't this cat play his part in that?
Ross isn't too bad and Wayne has become lyrically lazy, that fact we all know by now.

You have to start blaming the CONSUMERS at some point. The industry can self-edit itself if it wishes. BUT if they try to promote quality and it ends up in 1/3 less sales and the CONSUMERS gladly pay for dumbed down music, they'll never sustain those promotions.

The "elephant in the hip hop" room is hip hop isnt made toward male sentiment like it used to. Its also geared towards women and white people who buy the MAJORITY of hip hop. A lot of those consumers buy hip hop for the image enhancement and beats, not the "culture" and "artistry".

I DO THINK for the LONG TERM health of MAINSTREAM hip hop, that it needs to get back to a better level of quality. So Waka Flacka can start a "flight" of lameness out the biz.
