After talking with some of the uverse people today, they said they get a lot of calls for the phone (which I didn't even know they had available) and less for the internet and tvs. That's about all I could get. Good luck!
These folx somehow merges one of my yahoo accounts with their account and not they are FOREVER LINKED . .. . . If i change the password for one .. it has to change for both. I asked. . . if i leave uverse what happens to this account I have had longer than uverse. . . They said i would still have it .. but it still sounds fishy I am not happy Rocket River
Most of the complaints U-Verse gets (per the people you spoke with) is about the phone service, not so much internet and TV? U-Verse's phone service just became available in my area last year. I'll just "leave well enough alone" and keep my standard AT&T phone service indefinitely. This was the one, small downside for me after switching to U-Verse. My old Yahoo! account that I didn't use much just went away because it always defaulted to my U-Verse ID whenever I was on a Yahoo! website.
Well it's entirely possible that's why... because not a lot of places have it yet. I was told most of the internet/tv calls were fairly simple to complete. Though one gal told me she spent like 45 minutes on a call with a lady who was bedridden and wasn't getting a tv signal... and when they finally got it working the woman cried. I dunno, like I said, I work on yellowpages customer service and I just started there, so Uverse is not something I know a lot about.
Cables better for the value... but DSL is a little more reliable. Comcast's customer service sucks while AT&T's is a little more decent. Personally, I'd go with Cable if it's just internet that I'm getting. If you can get Fiber, even better... but in terms of internet. I rank it like this... 1. Fiber 2. Cable 3. DSL
Thanks for all the additional feedback. AT&T really gets you on installation and that cheapy 2wire modem. So if I only purchase U-verse internet servce (retaining my old AT&T phone service) they tack on a $149 installation fee and $100 for the modem/router. I didn't go through with the online order last night 'cause I want to call AT&T to see if I can get it without the $100 modem/router. I can get a better modem/router elsewhere or even get their 2wire one on fleabay. Do you'll think this is possible?
Just got onto U-Verse (Phone and 12 mbps). The modem has been ok so far, but it's pretty big/bulky. I went with the triple play for installation to get the $149 installation fee waived (they send you a gift card), and then cancelled the tv after a month (actually never got the U-Verse TV installed since I knew I'd be getting DirecTV).
I hear a lot of people complain about this but this was my situation. I ordered U-verse Tv and internet and they gave me the nice wireless router/modem/switch with free installation. After a while I canceled the TV service and I got to keep the wireless router/modem without incurring any charges. I guess you could order the u-verse tv/internet and get it installed for free and then cancel the TV service after a month or two?
So I call AT&T sales support and they were able to set me up with the U-verse Max (12mbps) purchase without the modem (buying it cheaper on fleabay). Plus I got an additional $5 discount since I have currently home phone service with AT&T on a regular land line. So it's basically $25/mo for U-verse Max. I'm just waiting for the installation appointment to be set up. Let's see how smoothly that goes...
I understood that to get Uverse internet I would need to get Uverse TV. Is this still the case? I really just want the internet part and not tv.
No you can get U-verse internet by itself without the bundled TV/phone service. I am switching from AT&T DSL to U-verse internet without U-verse TV.
