My wife and I will be in the Houston area on the friday after Thanksgiving. We are staying with some friends and they are keeping my 2 year old so we can go out that nite and do something. I need some good ideas as to what we could do. Some things we don't want to do are 1) Clubbing 2)Shopping. We were thinking of catching a movie maybe at the Edwards Cineplex right off 10. We also thought of catching the Aeros but they are not at home that weekend.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The Rice Village area has some good cheap restaurants. It's pretty lively so you can have a nice brisk "Houston fall" walk. The River Oaks Theatre (Shephard and W. Gray) shows independent films that you might like.. it's about 15 mintues from the Edwards Cinema of I-10. There are also a couple of bar/lounges that might be more low-key than a university hangout around that area. I think the LaffStop (comedy club) and a couple of jazz restaurants/bars are in that area, too. Or you could just sort of drive around and stop by the waterwall behind Williams Tower, the Montrose area (coffeeshops and such) or check out the Verizon Theater to see if any shows are going on.

    Castor,

I gnore everything you have read. The Edwards theater is nice but you have movies wherever you live so don't go here. Here is what I reccomend. Start the day off by grinding some 'shrooms into weed and hash brownies. Use extra chocolate. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Allow to cool. Eat them. When you are all baked and high go to Waterworld. It'll be closed but just find the tap and turn the water on. Ride all of the 'grown-up' rides naked. Also play in the Bugs Bunny fun park for a little while.

    Dry off.

Take 610 around to 225 east and go to Pasadena. Moon a refinery worker and run like hell. If you have to pee do it in a Big Gulp cup and pour it out the window. Go to Galveston and frolick through the Gulf of Yohoo.

Get a room at the Flagship and marvel at the rats and the general disarray of the establishment. Wake up early and stop at the Kelly's Diner off of 45 on the way north. Eat like a trucker.

    Chance

PS-On second thought A Christmas Carol will be opening at the Aerial theatre. It's usually a great performance.

Ahh some excellent ideas :p . I guess I should have noted that I am only coming into Houston from Beaumont. My wife's family lives there so we are in pretty often we just usually spend our time visiting relatives and not meandering around the city. The movie thing came about because during football season I work 6 days a week and go to church and sleep on Sundays. Therefore my wife and I rarely get any time to spend with each other and the time we do spend together usually involves my son (not a negative thing, just that when we get time by ourselves we just don't know what to do with ourselves).

You think is original? I did all this last weekend (except for the mooning part...I'd have to moon myself). Come up with something no one has done before.
