If the players caved to the current system, I wonder what they were asking for

I'm sure money is not the reason for this because of the small paycheck he's getting. It has to be about getting some playing time and practice. Come on, they're only all-stars because they love the game and have to drive to better themselves. What else are they going to do during the lockout while the committees are negotiating? Are they just sitting around, watching tv, stuffing their faces, and sleeping? Or, are they going to play basketball and keep their instincts and skills in proper condition.

[OHMSS] Deron Williams will play poorly in Europe because they actually play defense in Europe [/OHMSS]

a way to practice and keep in shape while getting some expense money in the process... not a bad move

200k a month is a lot for all of us, maybe not much for deron but chances are he has his house(s) and cars paid off probably 200k is enough for him and his family to go off of until the lockout ends...

and he will get to travel around europe and all...the one thing is that he wont get is the charter planes and the 5 star hotels but i guess that doesnt mean too much to him.

The ones that probably will suffer the most are the groupies that players have in cities they will stop getting the rent checks and all i mean why would a player want to support a groupie in Phoenix when he wont be seeing her twice a year anymore.

    52 wks * 200k= $10.4 million

And I think in most countries the tax is already calculated in, so if Turkey follows the same rules he would get 200k a week after taxes.

it's per month, not per week

so it's more like 200K*6 (how long is basketball season in europe? I'm guessing somewhere around 6-7 months?) = $1.2 M

Sure long-term he's losing out, but if he only stays for like a month or two he's getting payed a crazy amount just for that.
Think about it, you show up for one month play like 5 or 6 games and then leave with 200,000.

Whereas the NBA season is 82 games long and extremely vigorous in terms of training and etc.

Yeah I realized that and posted right after that one saying I read it wrong.

$1.2 million is a lot better than nothing, he would also be raking in endorsements while he's over there too.

If the NBA does end up locking out for an entire season then that's an entire year of his prime that he will never get back.

They should tell the owners that they won't be coming back to the NBA.
