I wouldn't mind Beasley and Jefferson. Sure neither play defense, but if the Rockets can land them without giving up Martin/Lowry that might be worth it. Utah have Kanter, Millsap, Favors, Okur all round out the 4-5 position. Wolves have Williams, Johnson, Love, Randolph, Webster all round out the 3-4 position. And i might have even forgot a couple players. But i think both those teams want to look at what the new players bring before making a final decision which is the smart thing.
With the Nets in full pursuit of Dwight Howard this next off-season and Brook Lopez becoming a restricted free agent, I could see Lopez being dealt for the right price: Luis Scola, Courtney Lee, cash for Brook Lopez, Travis Outlaw, 2012 Hou 1st rd pick Scola in combination with Courtney Lee, along with Deron Williams could entice Dwight Howard to join the Brooklyn Nets next off season.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=43zeutf Phillie gets: Scola Thabeet Budinger Minnie gets: T. Williams TE Houston gets: Beasley Iggy Speights
I can be more realistic, you have to think of why the other teams would do it too, Philly already has a old unathletic pf in brand why would they want scola, Thabeet is a nobody so thats pointless, and bud is a role player. So your saying they would trade there best player for that. I shouldnt even have to talk about the twill for beasley, a player who didnt play last year for 18 ppg player. I mean seriously!
Martin, Jhill, and Twill, for Iggy and Speights makes alot more sense for both, hell iggy for martin straight up makes more sense
What makes sense is to try and get Iggy to play alongside Martin. IMO, that would be the only reason to go after Iggy in the 1st place. As far as Brand goes, they were using him as a center sometimes. Maybe moving him to center while Scola plays the 4. Last offseason (or was it the deadline) there was a trade that almost went through and it was centered around the same players that i had mentioned in my trade with the exception of Thabeet (substituted for J Hill). Also that 18ppg scorer that you spoke of in Minny is also seen as a troublemaker and was traded to Minny for almost nothing last season. At least they will be getting T Will and a TE this time.
Miami traded him to make room for lebron, minny is not going to trade there leading scorer for nothing, no matter what kind of off court issues he has. You said make a more realistic deal so I did, I would want martin and iggy to play together too, but to bad we dont have the pieces they need to make that trade work
Minnesota has many assets/pieces, they can easily package Beasley plus fillers for another young starter or vet.
Beasley for Tyreke Evans makes sense. Sacramento has Salmons and Garcia, plus they are getting Thornton too. Evans and Cosuins have clashed heads before and Kings need a SF. Evans would be another quality piece for Minnesota along with Love, Williams and Rubio.
unrealistic but interesting... Using the all powerful trade machine on espn.com, this works money-wise...no way would Orlando accept it, BUT an interesting note came from it. Houston gets: Dwight Howard Orlando gets: Kevin Martin, C-Bud, and Thabeet As I mentioned, this works from a money point of view and yes Orlando would laugh at that even with picks thrown in. That said, the analysis of +/- wins is interesting...Hollinger's Analysis projects -8 wins for Orlando while Houston would remain the exact same...no improvement, no worse. Just thought that was interesting. Personally, I think there's no doubt Houston's W's go up with a lineup of: Lowry, Lee, Morrison/Twill, PPat, Howard...all of a sudden a scary defensive team too. Bring in a shooter off the bench and watch out. That said, no way this ever happens!
Id love to get Granger or Paul George from Indiana. If the Pacers dont land David West in FA then we can maybe work up a trade including Scola for one of those two.
