And risk injury with no access to team doctors? Also, different players, have different limits on work loads etc, it's all science now, and no player will want to risk injury.
They better at least have a shorter season. Because if there is no NBA: 1.) WTF AM I GOING TO WATCH WNBA???? 2.) It sucks for older teams like Celtics, Lakers, Mavs, etc. who were planning to go all out this year for a championship before rebuilding.
They have to do something to get or stay in basketball shape. There's always going to be without team doctors during the lockout. They can't just sit the whole time and avoid exercise, or even basketball.
I'm sure they will do basic training, but it's not the same. If the lockout is for the full season, players will need start hiring trainers to keep in game shape, as Im sure a lot of players will not train 5-6 days a week.
reminds me of shawn kemp and vin baker, the 1999 lockout ruined their careers..... will we see this scenario again? (hmmm Eddy Curry is already ahead haha)
Since players will not have any support staff helping them keep in shape, wonder who will gain the most weight in the off season...
People can train in gyms, or hire a personal trainer, players with a few years, knows what rutine the staff put on the players.
You think every player will be motivated to do this? Michael Beasley for example, you think he will be in the gym all the time? Also, the fact they will not be playing, means they start losing game fitness, and a whole heap of other issues will come up.
This would be a good time to have Battier on the team. He could coach the young fellas. Who do we have that can provide tutelage? Maybe Hayes? Yao? NFL has been doing their little mock camps, so NBA players will probably be doing the same thing.
If you live in the NBA cities you gotta run from playing ground to playing ground to find the NBA players hehe. Can you imagine seein the whole roster of a team playin in a park.
Heres the conference if anyone wants to watch. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/M-riwLGPVRA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Regarding the Cap Situation I think a reasonable solution is to keep the same roughly the same Cap but put a harder roof. I say the Cap should be at 60 million and the maximum ceiling is 65 with allows for a mid level exception at 5 mil. with the exception that you can add players for min vet without any regard to the cap. I don't like Billy hunter's attitude he's ego is way to considerable and he's setting a scene or culture where the player's now are fighting for pride rather than getting a fair deal done. This player's generation doesn't want to be known as the one that surrendered to the owners. So when someone like Roger Mason comes out and says he feels sorry for the fans, I feel disgusted and betrayed, I think Fans need to start their own union to make their voice matter more, I think its a legit Idea.
