I'm pleased and hopeful with DM's draft night performance. Best case: we just acquired four future All Stars. Worst case: at least we got taller.

most ppl were hoping we'd get him last year, and now all of a sudden ppl are so down and negative on the guy, smh

and those of you who are constantly calling him Derek Anderson part 2 have questionable bb iq and talent evaluation.. D-Mo has an inside game, DA has ZERO inside game..

more than anything, Derek Anderson is Steve Novak 2.0

DMo will bulk even further and be a force down low and on the perimeter on both ends of the floor, Im excited to see this kid grow, all haters will jump on the bandwagon like they were pro Donatas the whole time, losers

I see him being an Okur meets Bargnani type player.

If I know the answer to questions like these, it would imply that I can draft with the ability of 20/20 hindsight.

If so, I'd go to the Rockets and ask for a lifetime multi-million dollar contract as their draft expert.

Yeah in the press conference he looked bigger and one other workout video he looked bigger than I saw him in earlier videos. That is a good sign. Plus he clearly looks like he can add on more weight. Which makes me think he might be able to play some center for us as well. He is quicker than Dirk buut of course is not that kind of shooter. But he is a pretty good shooter and will only get better if he works at it. The thing that I love about this kid is he has all of those skills and he has a confidence about him. Sure calling out Dwight Howard is a little stupid but the kid believes he is faster and won't be an easy guard either. That's a good thing.Right now I think he has a better shot at contributing as a back up center than Hasheem.

I don't hate D-Mo, in fact, I love the idea of developing him. I just want to know what you guys think.

Having never seen DMo play in the NBA, I boldly predict that he will neither be The Future or The Mistake.

It really bothers me that there are basically four or five tall athletic white euros in the league, and people seem incapable of perciving Montejunas as anything but a potential clone of one of them.

Thst sort of thinking is nice if you are looking for a player for your NBA 2k roster. Reality is much more detailed and complex. He will be the next Montejunas. Remember how much Yao had to put up with being called 'the next Shawn Bradley' simply because there was no other frame of comparison for someone that tall? Even massive failures like William Bedford and Chris Washburn each flamed out in their own unique way.

Even the people who have followed their careers carefully don't know how they will work out. There have been extremely talented players whose careers were disappointments for a variety of reasons (Francis, Penny). In the same way, a host of low draft picks have exceeded expectations (Kobe). So many variables including outside distractions, personality, right team/wrong team, right coaches, wrong coaches, right system/wrong system. Being with incompatible players can ruin your game, being with the "right" players can develop your game. I feel for Carl Landry, he was in the right place, but now he can't find a home. In summary, only time proves anything. I want to be pleasantly surprised. Nothing is more elusive than a sure thing.

Not as high as Marcus Morris just based on height and Euro comparisons to Dirk Nowitzki thats for sure. But it is decent.

Monte is a true 7-footer who also happens to be a very skilled player, unlike the stiff we know as Thabust. By all accounts, he has added 15 lbs of muscle to his frame. He may need to add another 10, but as of now, you can't call him too frail or skinny to play C, which I think this is where he will develop.

It appears there is a question regarding his attitude towards bb. Morey said he has met a number of times with this guy and thinks this perception is "absurd". The way I see it, Monte wants to prove his doubters wrong, and I think he will.

To that end, it is imperative that McHale instill a sense of toughness in all his players, especially Monte. Tell them that winning bb is not about flash and awesome dunks, but about grinding it out, 48 minutes.

If Montie can develop that toughness, the sky is the limit for this guy. He already has all physical tools to be really good in the NBA.

    Future Mistake? ;)

Anyhow, most people like to over hype our Rookies before they even they play their 1st game. I just remember how hyped people were about Joey Dorsey.

I like the guys that we got, and I like that they have some attitude that will bring an identity to the team, which has a reputation to be soft.

But I do wonder, since we do not have a summer league this season, if no summer league might bring a lot of disappointed fans when we see them play during the regular season and they are not performing to the higher expected level of play.

btw...I'm the creator of that title..."The Don"... mark it down... Donatas Moticjunas will be a major defensive match-up nightmare for the competition. I suspect his best defense will come thru using him in a zone defense with him being the 2nd big...

Joey Dorsey actually was a great pick for the city of Houston.... it is just that he should have been given to Texans and developed as a

Even if he's a complete bust, I wouldn't call this pick a mistake. We took a swing at a high-upside guy with a low pick in a weak draft that cost us very little to acquire. Sometimes that doesn't work out. It doesn't make it a bad decision.

Also, I will refer to him by Feigan's suggestion - The Big Junas :)
