Also, I'm not sure if anyone else already pointed this out or not (I did on another thread), but Hill and Thabeet's contracts do not add up to 9 mill.

I think they would also have to include T will -- which would make me happy because he is pretty much just as terrible as the other two stiffs.

Chuck is a solid player... but we aren't going to get anywhere with him as our starting C. It's just not going to happen. Nothing against Chuck either, he could still start PF eventually (if we trade Scola for example). And he's still our best post defender. But we need a guy that can guard the paint. Chuck doesn't do that.

t-will could prolly put up sick numbers easily if he went to golden state and you would end up looking like a fool.

It works but I'd rather the Rockets keep the contracts for now until Iggy becomes available

Biedrins is a no-brainer if we can get him for cheap. He is still young, and has proven to be a double-double guy over the course of 3 seasons.

The last two seasons he's battled injuries, but nothing chronic as far as I can tell. What has also really affected his play is somehow he forgot how to shoot a free throw. That has really hurt his offensive game where at times he was afraid to shoot in case he got fouled and had to go to the line. I don't think that will be a problem here in Houston for two reasons.

    1. Chuck Hayes can relate. Chuck literally had the same problem in seasons past, being scared to go to the line. It was all mental. I think he can help Biedrins out a lot in that regard.

    2. We have one of the most efficient offenses in the league. One guy's FT shooting or lack thereof will do very little to impact the overall team play. Knowing that, maybe Biedrins' mind will be more at easy.

Two other examples as a frame of reference:

Omer Asik's name has popped up in relation to the Rockets, and I am someone who is a proponent in going after him. He has proved to be a better defender than Biedrins, and a similar caliber rebounder. And he is only a rookie. But then again, his body of work is still small and unproven compared to the 3 years of high level play for Biedrins. And this might come as a shock to some people, but Biedrins is ONLY about 3 months older than the rookie Asik. If it costs at least Courtney Lee to get Asik, I'd take Biedrins at the lower cost.

Tyson Chandler played a total of 96 injury plagued games in the two years before he got to Dallas. In the year before, he had one of his worst seasons, averaging 6 points and 6 rebounds. Biedrins played a total of 92 injury plagued games in the last two years. In the year before those, he had a career year averaging 12 and 11. Sometimes, all it takes is a change of scenery, and a little bit of luck to keep you healthy. Like I said, similar to Chandler, none of Biedrins' injuries seem long term.

That is absolutely false. Chuck is never, ever abused.

It is Luis Scola and Chase Budinger, 99.9 percent of the time.

Chuck abuses whoever he guards, more like...

He is not abused but they go over his back for rebounds or to tip shots to themselves. To grab offensive rebounds and put backs. To shoot over him at times. I generally agree the team as a whole allows these shots to be made. Especially Scola who can provide no helping defense and Budinger who just stands around on defense and does nothing. Makes Chuck look worse at times.

This just shows you how overvalued Morey has our players. Nobody in the league wants our guys outside of Martin & maybe Lowry. If we're already offering Thabeet before giving him a chance then the guy must be a scrub

People forget Bedrins had his best years when there was alot of talent around him.

He also did a very good job on Dirk when the warriors upset the mavs in the playoffs

Does DM the GM look at this as a pure dump of wasted height?

He did,and I saw him playing in action against Dallas in that series. Unfortunately for GS,he is no where near the player that he was.

That's exactly what it looks like to me. Looks like Morey's already given up on Hill and Thabeet, for good reason. The Warriors aren't willing to dump their garbage for our less expensive garbage yet. Do any of these players seem like hot commodities to you?

Without a doubt, but we need a young Deke along with Chuck to propel us deep into the playoffs. There is no one available that is near his caliber.

Are you serious? I too watched that series and thought Biedrins was great. How did he declined so fast without chronic injuries (allegedly)? Mental?

That's not entirely true. A great offensive player is always going to get his points shooting over him or under him.:p Hayes does a great job in making chuckers out of all the centers he faces(exception howard), making them shoot more to get their points. He can also box out most centers. The problems are that the 3 and the 4 out jump scola to grab the rebound and guards do not fear taking it to the middle.

On certain nights, Biedrins, hayes and morris could make for a feared defensive rotation. You have the rim protector, the elite post defender and an athletic sf with a strong build.

I don't really feel comfortable about this trade. In the press conference, McHale said he was impressed by how hard Hill and Thabeet were working, while last year the former Warriors coach Don Nelson repeatedly criticized Biedrins for his lack of intensity and aggressiveness in his time on the floor. Although Biedrins seems to have much more potential than Hill, with McHale's Mentor and the his hard work, Hill could definitely become a solid player, and for the bad salary cap Biedrins would bring to the Rockets, I don't think it is a good trade.

I'm not a huge Biedrins fan, but if this is all we'd have to give up to get him (next to nothing) then I think it's worth it. We'd acquire an actual center that is serviceable and has had some success in this league rebounding the ball and protecting the rim. I still wouldn't be totally satisfied with him as a long term solution but eventually we could upgrade him and I think he's capable of holding the fort if/when that upgrade comes along and he'd be an above average backup IMO. I'm just not totally convinced GS will go for the deal but at least Morey is trying!

Actually the more I think about it, the contract and health factors are weighing in far too negatively now. I would rather prefer the Rockets to invest $9 mil per season on a FA this off season.

Is Biedrins even better than Jordan Hill?
