I thought this year draft class is weak. How come Rockets are getting the likes of poor man's Drik/Pau Melo/Pierce in late draft positions?

There just weren't any all-stars or flashy players like Blake Griffin or Derrick Rose. When that happens people label the draft weak. All it takes is a Kevin Durant, and a "Greg Oden" for people to get hyped up about the draft. I understand it because one all-star changes everything. OKC was lucky they landed the second pick which was truly the first pick (unless you were like most UT fans who knew Durant was the real deal, and Oden wasn't).

It's not that Oden wasn't the real deal. The dude just has been injured the whole time. If he wasn't injured he would be a beast in Portland.

Even when he played, Oden does not have much offensive talent near the likes of Shaq/Yao/Howard. Also, he is a poor defender, fouling way too much.

I feel like this class is weak as far as super stars but plenty of quality players who can last in the NBA for awhile, just not super star level

In terms of true cut above the rest superstar this draft was weak. This draft was full of a lot of players that can be serviceable at the NBA level with no one that is going to be a superstar right off the bat in my opinion.

If anything I think if a player turns out to be a superstar or even close it's going to be soem who blooms late in my opinion or grows into that roll.

Not true, We can't tell if melo or pierce were good players until they are in there 2nd season of the NBA. So I won't consider this draft is weak. It's too early to say.

Not as much as you think since the current NBA champ MVP is a euro player...

They always say one thing but usually they have no more clue than anyone else, come back in 5 years and see.

Now the rockets have 4 players of the first 11 picks of that draft. :(
