Rockets Targeting Thompson, Biyombo In Efforts To Move Up
    Jun 23, 2011 10:06 AM EDT

The Rockets are attempting to use the 14th and 23rd picks to move into the top-10 of the 2011 NBA Draft. Detroit owns the No. 8 pick and is in talks with Houston.

Tristan Thompson is believed to be the primary target, according to sources. Bismack Biyombo would be the other main option, as Kevin McHale looks to add a big to the roster.

Apparently we like players with alliterations in their names.

    Patrick Patterson
    Tristan Thompson
    Bismack Biyombo

It might just be me, but it sort of feels like the 07 draft when everybody was speculating who Morey will pick, and he pulled a fast one over us and selected Aaron Brooks. So many guesses on who Morey will get, but will anybody be right?

Thompson or Biyombo at 8 would be just fine. They both are considered good defensive players.

agreed. either would be a good pick, and neither will make it to #14 (especially now that Biyombo recovered his draft stock with a couple of strong workouts).

Thompson is a PF though -- what's the point?

Thompson is an undersized PF too.

I'm holding on to hope for Williams or Kanter... We need that #2 pick!

I'm hoping it's just smokescreen --- or, CLE was reportedly considering Thompson/Valanciunas at #4. If we're able to get to #8, maybe we can pick Thompson and ship him to CLE in a deal for Valanciunas.

No way we are targeting Thompson. Lots of smoke and mirrors. What would Ken Berger know about who we are targeting? I think it would be smart to keep the cat in the bag, and not screw ourselves like in 2006. Who is the one prospect projected 8-10 who has quietly NOT been linked to Houston yet? ;)

His attitude seems a lot better. Not that Thabeet has a bad attitude, it's just Biyombo seems like one of those guys that will do whatever it takes to succeed.
