Why trade Rice? I don't get it???

    1) He's in the last year of his contract.
    2) He hasn't even played this year.

Are we stuck with him in IR and his outrageous contract forever?

    1) He's in the last year of his contract.

Actually, he has 2 years left on his contract

    2) He hasn't even played this year.

Isn't that a reason to get rid of him? Acquire someone who can get on the court?

Seriously though, I agree wtih getsmartnow, why trade him? Just for the sake of making a trade? Wait until he gets back on the court, gets blended into the system the Rockets are trying to implement and then evaluate whether he needs to be traded or not.

Even if we get rid of Rice's "outrageous" contract we're still about a billion dollars over the cap so he isn't going anywhere. Lets wait for the team to get healthy, and if Rice is still unable to contribute then we can be concerned. Until then lets get the team back to full health and make the playoffs.

Is this really worth the clutter of a new thread?

Actually saying something should be a minimum requirement for having the privilege of starting a new thread. Including the title, the opening post was 11 words (that is giving credit for both "player" and "players").

We need his money later to resign current players. Let him play.

Rice sucks so bad right now, it's unbelievable. I hope his contract has an exception......mainly saying that if he fails to participate in the majority of the games each season, that we only have to pay him like 1/3 of his contract worth. Seriously though, what a waste of bench space. I don't think he'll ever be healthy again. He was a good player a few years back, but his days are numbered here in Houston. Hurry up contract....Please end!!
