There has been a lot of talk about Les' willingness to spend. So let's have a little fun quiz. Question: Where do you the Rockets rank among NBA teams in terms of player salaries over the past four years? Try to guess without peaking. The Answer Spoiler Number 10. Ranked 4th, 16th, 9th, and 11th over the past 4 years. Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-player-salaries/
minus the insurance $ factor in the insurance money we've been collecting all these years then we could be waay down the chart, but Les is far from cheap though imho
Les is so cheap that... he makes Morey walk his dog for him. Les is so cheap that... he uses every "double your money back if not satisfied" deals he can find.
The frustration of not landing a major star to move on from the Yao/McGrady era has a lot of fans impatient, angry and looking for a scapegoat. So Morey and Les get panned hard on the BBS for no real reason. The Les avoids the luxury tax issue becomes overblown, and people overlook the fact that 80% of the league stays under it annually, most teams religiously. Find me the blockbuster deal or signing that Les vetoed over money.
and also please list how many luxury-tax avoiding trades les has made in the last 4 years. les would rank number 1 every year
the team with the most championships spent nearly 20 years sucking. The Lakers have even gone thru several years of sucking.
I don't think Les is cheap. Why? Because Les has demonstrated that he will make the bold/necessary move to put us in position to contend. I actually really like him as an owner. Hands off, but hands on at the same time. Goes to a lot of games, but does not make himself into a sideshow like Cuban does.
minus insurance money from TMAC and Yao. factoring in the extra China money he got. Les is as cheap as an NBA owner can be.
That's not cheap that's brilliant. Or would you think highly of Les Alexander if he turned down the insurance money or the China money? According to the Forbes list Les Alexander has one of the lowest net worth among NBA owners, its great we haven't done any $$$ moves that hurt the team.
And we continually spend $3M to buy 2nd rounders, some of which never pan out (JT, Dorsey). Of course, nobody remembers that and just thinks the reason we're losing is because our owner is cheap.
Les is so cheap that...he doesn't tip his hat! Les is so cheap that...he can be found ON the dollar menu
