It possible he will get voted on. Wouldn't suprise me at all. The guy is Michael Jordan over there. Let's just hope he turns it down if he's not averaging 15-10.

But, he'll have to split allegiances with Mengke Bateer and Wang Zhizhi. :p

Of the 1.5 billion people in China, how many of them care about basketball? Of those, how many have a computer with an internet connection? Of those, how many are homers that will vote for Yao regardless of his performance?

43 million people in China has access to the Internet, up from 9 million 2 years ago. I don't think he will get enough votes from China to get him in the All-Star team this year, maybe in a couple of years time when the Internet explosion continous in China, Yao plays better and gets more recognition.

    -G'day-

You have 43M with internet connection who might vote for Yao, another close to 1M potential Rockets fans maybe who might vote the home team, and probably at least another 1M chinese basketball fans in the US who might vote for yao.

Not only might you see a proliferation of Yao votes, deserving or not, but if the NBA requires you to vote for every position (and not just vote for Yao and no one else), you may see a dramatic jump in number of ballots cast and you may see several BIG NAME players get undeserved all star vote ins, maybe even more than normal.

Oh, and BTW, Franchise and Mobley both have much better chances t o be allstars this year IMO because Yao will bring more exposure

Frankly, considering the rest of the centers in the NBA, Shaq should be the starter if he can play, even if it was his first game of the year.

    Voting in China . . . for NBA all-star. Well, it's a start.

Until they sell the NBA League Pass in China, I don't think their votes are going to be very "educated". Not that this is politics or anything, but the Chinese fans will only know what they are told, other than the 30 or so games that might be played on televsion over there.

Dont you think that they will have some kind of editorial in newspapers and magzines that would say to vote for Yao Ming. Because all they would have to say would be that NBA.com had made mandarin chinese site for everyone in China, and you can vote for Yao Ming there

How many votes does the top voted player receive usally. Hasnt it been Vince Carter for the last 2 or 3 years. He got around i think a million and 300 thousand to a million and a half. There are a lot of more people voting in China potentialy then that. And also now that I think about it Vince had a countries extra support since he is on the Raptors.

So I think that Yao M. has a good chance at being voted in, deserving or not.

What do you guys think about what I said here. I really dont see see how you guys think he wont get voted in, thats if Chinas votes count.?

You think the Chinese propaganda machine is rewriting game recaps? That doesn't seem a bit paranoid to you?
