I wouldn't be surprised if Morey drafted Jimmer at 14

I hope so. If we trade away kyle lowry anytime soon (barring some sort of career endangering injury/sustained drop in production) then I'll have lost all hope in humanity (rockets FO).

I would like Jimmer if he were to fall to #14 and none of the bigs did as well. He would honestly have more trade value than a Singleton, Hamilton, etc. Plus with his name factor, maybe the Rockets actually get a little more press/tv time.

One thing I was thinking about is, if Jimmer is drafted by the Rockets, would the Rockets end up gaining fans from Utah or would Utah fans hate the Rockets more for "stealing" their basketball-Jesus.

Fredette is a whole lot closer to Eddie House than he is Steve Nash or Mark Price.

    Won't be there

He likely goes 7 to Sacramento but even if that doesn't happen, he will not make it past the Jazz at 12. I really doubt Morey moves up to get him, but those of you comparing him to Morrison and Reddick have obviously not seen him play.

He can create his own shot anytime he wants and his shot is elite. A team with a shotblocker will be able to hide his defensive struggles. Mark it down - Jimmer will exceed all expectations.

The Rockets would get Utah fans. They would instantly become the state of Utah's second favorite team.

Jimmer Fredette is the second-coming of Ben Gordon. The very definition of a tweener, but a talented one. As he'd fit the Rockets, I wouldn't trade up for him, but he might be worth it as an asset. On a bad enough team, he'll have a shot at Rookie of the Year. That might make him an interesting trading piece.

He's not going to be a "special" player. Handles/court-awareness are something you already should have when you enter this level; you can't really "develop" them. He'll be a good off the bench player or even start on some teams for his career.

    But special?

Jimmer's videos look pretty reasonable. He's almost certainly going to be more versatile offensively than Reddick, who showed no real ability to put the ball on the floor in college. Nice shot and good court sense.

BUT... he is going to be a serious defensive liability. Too slow to guard PGs and too small to guard SGs. So really the only way for him to make it is if he becomes the best shooter in the league. Even if he pans out, it's very difficult to imagine him being as good as Ben Gordon. Daniel Gibson is more realistic.

I am having a hard time thinking of any starting PG that he could win a matchup against. I guess it's possible he could be better than: Flynn, Chalmers, Felton, Lawson, Holiday, or Mo Williams. But there is a lot of PG depth in the league and it would be a pretty big accomplishment for him to reach any higher on the ladder than that.
