No thanks. Whatever Martin loses in this type of comparison with rebounding and shot blocking he cancels out with his remarkable efficiency on the offense end. Bottom line: Al Jefferson doesn't get to the FT line enough for a player of his size and skill level. 18 PPG on 16 shots is nothing to write home about. Pass.
Guy's a perennial loser that just makes his team worse. Post player that can't even shoot 50%, really? I'd rather have Dalembert if we're not going young.
Sorry what I meant is - the both have questions marks regarding their health. Scola hardly ever missed a game. But surgeries always scare me.
I oversimplified things, but honestly looking at the incoming and outgoing of role players really is a waste IMO. CJ Miles performed better last year than Wesley Matthews the year before. Gordon Haywood came in and replaced Korvor. Millsap performed much better last year in his expanded role. I forgot about Okur, so I'll give you that. I mean, the Celtics pretty much flip over their entire roster year after year. Yet their records never change much with their core intact. Anyway, the 2nd point is a bit arbitrary since you can argue either way. The 1st point, which is that Jefferson can't shoot 50% and can't get to the line, is the main point.
LOL at people who talk about Jefferson's rebounding advantage over Martin. What is this, a joke? What's next? Are you going to compare Mario Williams receiving yards with Jacoby Jones to imply that although Mario is a great pass rusher, he can't catch a football? Look, how about we compare Jefferson to the Rockets players that are in charge of rebounding? Per 36: since they all play different minutes Jefferson: 9.7 Hill: 9.8 Hayes: 10.4 Scola: 9.0 Patterson: 8.3 Since any trade involving Jefferson would take these players' minutes, one should be comparing his rebounding ability with theirs, no KMart's. And I see absolutely zero reason why our rebounding would get better with him on the court. It basically a wash.
Jefferson is a scoring big, not the rebounder/shot-blocker we need. We already have a scoring big in Scola who can't play defense. We can do better if we want to trade Martin.
Yes we would have two bigs who don't play D and just score but there is a poossibility that we put Scola in a package for Iggy/Granger/Smith(?). If scola is traded away, we will have a better defender in pat at the 4 and will have room for a scorer down low. I love chuck but we need size down low and we can get that with Al. With all of this said, I would only take him if we trade away scola. If we have scola at the 4 and Jefferson at the 5, our post defense would be nonexistent and teams would score 100 or more on us every game.
I may have read a more rediculous post here, but haven't the inclination to ponder it, with all due respect.
I would do this trade if klay Thompson is available. Start lee at shooting guard with klay off the bench.
