Next Years Draft

    Hey guys, do we have a first round pick next year??

    Excuse me for being such a noob! haha..

    I really hope we do because next years lottery will be deeeeep.. Thanks in advance ;)

    We have anywhere from 0 to 2 potential picks next year.

    Pick 1: Our own. If we miss the playoffs, we get the pick. If we make the playoffs, it's NJ's. This pick is lottery-protected for 4 years, and then becomes a 2nd round pick

    Pick 2: NY Knicks. If NY gets a pick later than #5, we get that pick. Otherwise, NY keep it. It is top-5 protected for the next 4 years. And then become 2nd round picks if NY keep getting top-5 picks.

    Seems like a slim chance that we won't have two picks then. With Amare and Melo in the fold, New York is unlikely to perform so poorly they land a top 5 pick - even if Amare goes down for the whole season.

    And barring any world altering moves by Morey, I can't imagine this squad will make the playoffs next season with a new coaching staff.

    Lottery-protected for the entire duration of its term. Which means if Memphis keeps missing the playoffs(unlikely though), they will keep that pick until it eventually becomes 2nd rounder. Similar to our 1st rounder to NJ.

    So here's to Memphis getting the 8th seed in 2013. :)

    It'll be fun to at least go to the draft one of these offseason. This year and next are going to be in NJ because they renovating MSG I believe. I may go in two years, just to go since I've got summer plans already for next year.
