I voted "Other" and by "Other" I mean Jordan Hamilton. Don't get me wrong, I'm from Texas and I watched this dude play all year. Shooting - he's a great shooter. Team player - not so much. Defense - I don't think he's ever even heard of the word. Honestly he has talent, but I just think he's selfish.

I hope the Rockets draft who ever Morey and his team of scouts and analysts think is the best player on the board. They have a considerably better track record than I do. I thought Danny Fortson was going to be the next Charles Barkley and I jumped out of my seat and high-fived my father when they announced the trade for Eddie Griffin.

A much easier question for me to answer:

"Who among those that have been mock-drafted to the Rockets can you just about guarantee the Rockets will not pick?"

My answer: Tyler Honeycutt. Or Josh Selby if you want.

This Rockets administration I feel has been built upon the principle that, if you disappoint at one lower level of basketball play, there's no way in hell that you're gonna all of a sudden turn it around on pure potential alone. The result? Drafting guys that basically dominated college, or international ball the year before they were drafted. Maybe the obvious stats did not show it (as in the case of Landry or Dorsey or Patterson), but when you crunched the advanced stats and watched the game tape it was true nonetheless.

This regime will NOT go after guys that have been hyped up in the pre-draft period if their "limitless potential" did not manifest itself in the regular season of whatever basketball league those guys had been playing in beforehand. The ONLY example that gets anywhere near this is Donte Green, but even he put up 18ppg 7reb as a rookie for Syracuse which is pretty hard to do when a senior-friendly Boeheim is your coach.

So you can look at all those players with potential that had a let-down year as a freshman in the NCAA and throw them out. Is it a foolproof rule? Heck no. Monta Ellis and DeAndre Jordan are immediate names that come to mind when I think of guys with tons of potential who the Rockets basically never even considered drafting and maybe should have. But then again, both those guys were second-rounders, so a bunch of other teams must have been grading them like the Rockets did.

In summary, we're not taking Tyler Honeycutt or Josh Selby.

I voted Tristan Thompson. The last thing we need is another pf since we already have Scola/Pat/Hill. In fact, we shouldn't draft anyone who isn't a center or a sf.

I'm usually not against drafting the best available especially when you're drafting in the teens (I am of the opinion that drafting for need greatly increase your chances of drafting a bust). But this draft we really need to go after someone that has an NBA body and can defend at their postition. No more tweeners.
