Me and my good friend are having a lively discussion about this. He has been a long time Dirk fan and in fact claims he is an all-time great to which I agree with to a certain extent probably top 25. However when I bring up Lebron and his accolades and potential career accomplishments he tends to downplay them and points out his mid range game etc. disregarding the 2 mvp, 5 all nba teams, best perimeter defender in the league etc. So I ask you unbiased Rockets fans.......Who will end up having a better career when its all said and done ? Dirk or Lebron ?

Lebron should have the better career.

Will he/Won't he depends on luck.

Right now Nowitzki has the better resume.

I think Lebron has already had the better career. The championship is great for Nowitzki, but I don't think it puts him ahead of several better players who have no rings (Lebron, Barkley, Malone, Stockton).

In a few years time, I see Dirk being a world-class international basketball player and possibly HOF and if he had this team in the making 3 years ago... I would choose him..

But Lebron is young and he has many years to become the next Michael Jordan in his awards, winning around 2 or 3 championship rings to come in my guess and his continuously hardwork on and off the court, etc...

    Thats why, I voted for
    Lebron.

Rings are a team accomplishment. There are still ringless PFs that I would take over Dirk, like Malone and Barkley.

if we judge them at this point in time,

    1 mvp + 1 finals mvp + 1 ring > 2 mvps

They are individual accomplishments as well. Rings are why we look at Jordan and Kobe as transcendent superstars compared to say Steve Nash.

Why Duncan is considered the greatest power forward.

Why Russell is in the greatest center discussion.

It all depends on whether James will get any significant injury in the next few years.

A ring with Wade is not the same as carrying your own team.

BS. So clyde getting a ring with dream isn't the same? What about wade with shaq? Dr j with moses? Lebron getting a ring or wings is only going to elevate him,but he's already one of this generations greatest players. The other day on the radio carilse talked about dirk being 1 of ten players that has mvp, finals mvp, and ten time all star, but he forgot dream on that list. Dirk is a great player, but as someone mentioned earlier, he's not better than the ringless malone or barkley.

LeBron should have a better career, if we are talking about the first three quarters.

I'm a Lebron hater as much as the next guy... But I still think Lebron will have a better career than Dirk. He might have ruined comparisons with Jordan this finals but I still think he will go down as a top 10 player all time, he's only 26.

The way you phrased the question is biased and favors Lebron. What about Dirk being a 10 time All Star, a CHAMPION, the greatest European to ever play the game???

And your friend is right by pointing out Lebrons horrible mid range game. Lebron is Lebron because he is a 6'8" 260 lbs athhletic specimen. He is not extremely talented and Dirk is overall a more talented player.

I put Lebron above Dirk the same way I put Malone and Barkley above him. Are you one of those guys that now thinks Dirk is the #2 PF of all-time because he won a championship? Or will you admit that, despite the ring, he's still behind Malone and Barkley?
