...what, or who does the team focus on now? Croshere is gone. Grant is too expesive-THANK GOD! Kurt Thomas is still a Knick. What's next? A boring, uneventful next 2 months in RocketLand? ------------------ "I've been licking this carpet for hours and I still don't feel like a lesbian!"
The next two months may not be so boring. The Rockets have the $4.5 million exception which expires in October, so the next two months will probably be filled with speculation on which teams will be contacting the Rockets for the exception. I still believe that Mike Miller could very well end up in a Rockets uniform before October, the Magic want Mo Taylor and need cap space to get him. ------------------
With Dream, Cato, Massenburg, C.Rogers, Pig Miller, Collier, K.Thomas all sharing the 4 & 5 spots, I'm sure we can expect some sort of player movement. I think Massenburg will be the one that is dealt. He lost a lot of value this past season because of injuries, but don't be fooled, there are a lot of teams that could use a vet 6"9" banger who can rebound and can come relatively cheap. Also, I think Bullard's days as a Rocket must be numbered. With Walt, Damn Lanky and a little bit of Shandon and Carlos playing Small Forward, there doesn't seem to be much room for the long-time Rocket. If he leaves, I will miss him. I wouldn't expect the Rocks to pull any of their trademark, earth-shattering moves this off-season, but I'm there will be something. Just keep your expectations low, and be grateful we still have Mobley. Azim da Dream ------------------ We don't live for the destination. We live for the journey.
I hope over the next few months, the Rockets try to move players like Walt Williams, Carlos Rogers etc for FAs to be in 2001. I want them to clear as much cap space as possible for the free agent hunt. If they do acquire anyone by using the trade exception, I hope its a player like Jerome Williams who is reasonably priced under 3 mil and fits well into this team as he provides hustle and rebounding. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
I would like to see the Rockets keep 'Los and have him healthy for a full year. Last season, when he was healthy, he was the best player we had. He can definitely rebound and he has a nice offensive game. I was at the Blazers first game in the Laptop last year, Francis played well, but Los stood out. ------------------ "Your not a real member of CC.net unless you have 1000 posts"
Azim, Massenburg and Miller aren't signed. I believe Collier is the backup center only, probably only sees time when Dream is injured or Cato is in foul trouble. I think Langhi spends a lot of time at the 3. Thomas starts at PF, Langhi and Collier may get spot minutes there, but Bullard and Rogers would be the backup at the 4 based on matchups. Miller may get signed depending on what other transactions take place, but one or two of these PFs will be on IR to start the season. Rogers is almost a lock for IR, but his is usually legitimate, unfortunately. ------------------ Bad spellers of the world: UNTIE! [This message has been edited by Tb-Cain (edited August 02, 2000).]
DoD, speaking of trading Drew, I've got a feeling he'll be dealt for a future draft pick unless we can get a package of players together. I agree Finn, I'd like to see an entire season with a healthy and mentally together 'Los. With all of his tick tack injuries and the death of his brother, he had a tough year. He was the one player(other than Francis) that I really was excited about seeing. I hope he comes back at 120%. ------------------ "I've been licking this carpet for hours and I still don't feel like a lesbian!"
I like Los alot and if you guys recall that one game he had against Utah he scored like 28 or 29 points even though he knew a close family member had just died... I felt so bad for him.... the guy has a BIG HEART and desire to win.. I say lets keep him ! .. He fits this team rather well .. can run, catch the oops... has a decent shot around the basket , gets lots of putbacks , hustles , rebounds , good for team chemistry. ------------------ When I die I want to go right after watching a rockets game !
What about Pig? Anyone think he'll be a Rocket when the season starts? ------------------ "I've been licking this carpet for hours and I still don't feel like a lesbian!"
Pig might have a better chance of being a Rocket if he gets rid of that toothpick in his mouth. What is that for? Probably to replace the sensation of eating a steak. ------------------ Stevie Wonder says "they call him FRANCHISE because his dunks are for sale at an arena near you."
I agree on Carlos. He has desire, potential, a good attitude, and doesn't mind doing the dirty work. I would like to see him improve his defense and think it is worth keeping him around to find out how far he can go when he isn't held back by injuries. ------------------
If Rogers stayed healthy, I think he would be a decent starting 4. Has he ever played a full season, or have they all been like last year? ------------------ [This message has been edited by BayouRocket (edited August 03, 2000).]
