I guess I should really say BBC. We really enjoy BBC America. We started watching their 'Changing Rooms' long before 'Trading Spaces' started. But I also enjoy Monarch of the Glen, Hamish MacBeth, and now Coupling. Graham Norton has its moments. Whoopi will have a series on British Humor (Humour) beginning on Dec 1. That should be great. Quality TV. Anyone else try it out?
I usually flip over to the BBC to see what's on. Graham Norton is hysterical -- his interview with Dolly Parton was priceless. My favorite show has to be Ground Force (a garden makeover show). Without fail, the weather is awful, there are terrible problems, the crew runs late and the homeowner comes home early. The poor host seems to be in a constant state of anxiety. I find it comforting in a way -- I mean if the pros can screw it up this bad, then I may not be as pathetic as I think.
Mrs. JB, Ok, you outed me. I admit that I watch Ground Force some also. Wasn't the woman, what's her name...Charlie?, on Graham Norton? It seems she's somewhat of a sensation. How do you like Graham's stuffed-animal phones?
Ah yes...Charlie. From what I can tell, she's a sensation mainly because she is an amply endowed woman who refuses to wear a bra even when performing manual labor. This makes her very popular. I like Graham's phones, but I like his clothes even more. One night he wore a suit made of temperature-sensitive fabric. As parts of his body got warmer, the fabric in those areas changed color. It ended up looking somewhat obscene when he stood up.

I'm a big dork. I don't think anyone is as obsessive about Ground Force and Changing Rooms as I am. I'll happily watch shows I've seen several times before... I know all the gardeners' and designers' names (and signature styles)... and not only do I watch the British ones, *now* I watch the New Zealand versions too... And I *love* Graham. Deeply and sincerely. That first segment where everyone tells embarrassing stories is fantastic... I saw one the other night which involved a dog licking up come from the living room floor as a girlfriend's parents looked on...
hi dimsie, What do you think of the designer in the black leather pants that always makes the bedrooms look like a w**** house? (guess I gave away my opinion). We really like the host of Changing Rooms; she seems really genuine. I understand that the show has been sued a number of times (doesn't surprise me...bet the designer was mr. leather). I've only seen Graham two or three times, but with these rave reviews I think we'll have to catch a few more of his shows.
Boy, American TV must be bad. Ground Force and Changing Rooms are two of the most reviled programmes on the box over here. Graham Norton is funny though, his new series started last week. Coupling is good too, the new episodes we're getting at the moment are hilarious! BTW, you should really say 'British'. Most of the shows you've mentioned are BBC productions, but Graham Norton is on Channel 4 over here, not the BBC. They must just buy the syndication.
Aside from sports and docu-stuff, British tv is about all the tv I watch...Mysteries like Inspector Morse, Cracker, Sherlock Holmes, or Poirot, comedies like Fawlty Towers , or the afore-mentioned Hamish MacBeth... I find their programming far superior to American television with respect to acting and writing...probably to account for the much lower production budgets. But they've got it right...fewer explosions and car chases, better lines and deliveries.
Me and my wife watch changing rooms and ground force CONSTANTLY...matter of fact it's on right now. Did anyone catch the behind the scenes episode..it was pretty funny ? Seems that show is often in the tabloids with people crying about how their house was messed up I say if you go on a show like that be prepared for anything and accept it or stay off the show. ....anyway yea it is a very addicting show
I hated him at first and still don't like his design work but it's entertaining when he is on the show.He does a lot of hotel lobbys and that really shows
We really like the host of Changing Rooms; she seems really genuine.
Yea she is really cool ..not bad to look at either
The movies are good as are the mysteries and the comedies. They cram way too many commercials on BBC America. I much rather BBC Radio (no commercials) http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/
I like BBCA... I also like Britcoms (british TV comedies). Especially old stuff like The Young Ones, Bottom, and The Comic Strip Presents. Good stuff...
Radio4 has everything. News|Curr't Affairs Arts and Drama Comedy|Quizzes Science Religion|Ethics History Factual If you haven't listened to Quizzes before, give it a try (puts Jeopardy to shame)
My guilty secret: I listen to the Shipping Forecast at night (11:35 pm Houston time) to help me fall asleep. It's all such soothing sounding gibberish that I can't help but get drowsy.
Don't know about Houston. I get BBC America off DirecTv, but I think some digital cable also offers it up.
Do you mean that Changing Rooms is ridiculed or not watched? We saw our first episode of Coupling...the one about the videos...had some pretty funny moments.
