I have been watching basketball closely since 1987...And I have never seen nor heard of a team that has choked 4th quarter leads as frequent as the Heat!!!Whether its the magnified because its the BIG 3 may make it a bit biased, but my dad even said he's never seen a team like them... Do any of you know of a team that is SOOOO unclutch???...
Well, Miami actually made a nice comeback in the 4th tonight. Dallas was just unstoppable from three. I don't really know if this is a chokejob, at least not nearly as much as games 2 and 4.
Im speaking of the whole season....Even the ones where they had big leads and maybe won in the end...Its not like we are ignorant to the Heats season...Every game was on Sportscenter
I find the whole deal pretty hilarious. Miami is built for clutch, with superstar wings that examplifies what clutch players are. And they have TWO of them. Dallas team, OTOH, is built on analytics, which generally undersells clutchness and prefer to go with players' overall ability(i.e. Dallas actually desperately wanted the most unclutch SG in Kevin Martin). They also have Dirk as their lone superstar. It's like the clutchiest team on paper vs the unclutchiest team on paper.
the lakers choked vs boston losing a 24 pt lead (boston lost a 24 pt lead too, but they won the game) and then in game 6 they lost by 39.
Lebron had 2 points in the fourth and no field goals. Bosh missed 2 freethrows in the fourth....That's chocking no matter how you spin it.
I agree, but also the Mavs (and Carlisle) have better chemistry and higher collective basketball IQ. With each game, they tweak and make adjustments to their offensive sets, and as a result the shots they're getting down the stretch are getting more efficient. A lot of credit goes to the backcourt of Terry, who has been scoring and passing better with each game, but especially Jason Kidd, who doesn't score much but is the engine of that fourth-quarter lineup. The way he subtly affects Miami's defensive scheme, even the way he creates just enough spacing before lobbing the ball to Nowitzki in the post, it's been incredible to watch. No hyperbole, it's like observing a master craftsman at work.
the Heat led for what? 90 seconds of this 4th quarter, by at most 4 pts. How is that choking "a lead"? They actually came back, but then Dallas ran them off the court. Yeah, so we can say they choked up. But they didn't really choke away a lead. I think it is the other way around. Dallas has been clutch every series. Don't take that away from them, just because you have a bias against Miami. If Dallas wins, what is everyone going to remember this as the year Miami choked? That's just wrong. It's the year Dallas clutched their way to a ring. Well, I guess maybe 2006 was the year Dallas choked...but I like to remember it as the year Wade took over and became a superstar!
Dallas used 20-2 run and a 17-4 run in final minutes and barely edged Heat in game 2 and 4. Now this one they didn't have a big lead, but another 17-4 run in closing minutes. How's that not choking?
OP said they choked away another lead. that's not true. They choked up, but they didn't choke away another lead. You guys are not giving Dallas enough credit. They've been doing this every series. Do not turn this into the year Miami choked, if Dallas wins. It is the year Dallas was clutch...approaching clutchcity clutch. We're going to have to prepare to admit that. But you go ahead and say it is the year Miami choked.
Seems like the majority of NBA fans hate the Heat with a passion so they are going to focus on the Heat doing wrong instead of Dallas doing right. If the Heat win, I feel bad for Dallas because they are going to be ridiculed for choking away a series that would have defeated the evil empire. I blame the media. The stupid Decision special, Skip Bayless, Adrian Wojodoucheky, everyone who is trying to make the NBA about good v. evil drama instead of basketball.
