Is it acceptable for a true Rockets fan to root for Dallas?

So what? I ALWAYS tune in. And for ME, knowing that this Heat team can win the title in their first year together, it discourages me from caring about, say, the NBA draft, or Summer Leagues. Because this year is the WORST the Heat will be...

 

Hate both teams. Rockets all the way!

But, if I had to pick, Miami.
I just figure they are going to win a championship(s), anyway, so what's one now.
Dallas, I don't want to see them win it, at all.

Anything but the Lakers winning it. It's just a weird finals matchup. I figured it would be Heat v Lakers and i would be rooting for Miami. Now its just so hard to root against Dirk and Kidd. Two guys that have just grinded it out every year...The Heatles will be together for years. Let's be honest, Dallas isn't winning again.. its no big deal. I think Dirk getting a ring puts him past Barkley, Ewing, Malone as greatest PF's and C's of the league...and that is fine by me.

 

My sentiments exactly. Does it really matter if Miami wins one this year or next? I don't wanna see Cuban holding the trophy.

 

Honestly, it doesn't seem like the Heat have a big bandwagon at all. The only bandwagon I'm seeing is a united front of people wanting them to lose. I see this in real life and online. If you want a bandwagon, look no further than the Lakers, who own about half of all NBA fans and routinely bring a vocal crowd of supporters to whatever arena they play in. I haven't heard any Heat fans in road arenas.

 

This would be a much more interesting topic if it was the Jazz in the finals against the Heat. Just the thought of it...

 

Is it hard for you CFers to accept that there are hardcore Rockets fans like me who just dislike LeBron more than the Mavs and therefore, I am temporarily rooting for the lesser of two evils? Or is everybody else just stupid and closed minded and feel offended by the fact that I can be a good rockets fan and still root for a team that happens to be a rival?

 

Who cares? This Mavs team isn't going to be together next year. What's one (fluky?) title? Nowitzki's not going to win another one...

 

now, that would be a tough choice. i would probably choose neither if that were the case.

 

Mavs. Simply because I can't stand the cHEAT.

Rockets Forever. I just don't see how some of you can root for a division rival. Still befuddles me to this day. I would be happy to see Dirk and Kidd win a ring but they are still associated with the Mavs.

Lakers-Mavs, I rooted against lakers, heat-mavs rooting against miami.
and Kidd always have been one of my favorite non-rockets players.

Im not from Houston, so I dont get the Houston hate for Dallas.

A lot of people hate the celtics, but if the series was Boston/Mavs, who you would be rooting for?

 

i think that's a great reason to root FOR the mavs, not against them.

if the rockets are on vacation, then i prefer spurs or mavs, or anyone else in the SW division. represent the SW and show that it is the best division.

heat are douchebags, yes i would even root for the jazz over the heat.

dallas winning doesn't affect the rockets. their season is over and next year is a clean slate. it will be even more fun to beat the mavs.

as far as dallas fans, who cares. i don't pay attention to trolls.

 

I didn't wanna say this, especially here, but I'm rooting for the Mavs. I have a newfound respect for Dirk after watching these playoff games.

I mean if you beat the Lakers AND the Heat, you freakin DESERVE it.
