for the people saying no, have you guys actually seen games of monta ellis playing? the guy is a potential scoring threat, and he is much more better at passing the ball off of penetrating than kevin martin easily.

Steve Francis never even averaged over 16 FGA/36, your argument makes 0 sense.

His talent exceeds his payroll. I drool over talent and will take him if we can get him for cheap.

A negative 7 adjusted plus minus. The Warriors play a lot better when he's on the bench. He plays bad defense and gets his own points by being a chucker with no real contributions to winning.

By comparison Stephen Curry was a plus 7.

Kevin Martin is also grossly overrated, but at least his offense doesn't take away from his teammates.

So no, do not want. Even if they are trying to give him away considering his salary.

Who draws more fouls? I thought we were a team built to get into the penalty.

Besides, Monta is a great scorer but last time I checked scoring was the least of our problems - why bring him in and pay him more than our current SG to help in an area that we don't really need help in? Let's find someone to block shots & rebound first. I agree we need a playmaker at some point but I see Monta as a scorer(one of the best) more than a playmaker...

I think Monta is going to be traded for a high pick in this draft.

Monta Ellis is an upgrade over K-Mart.

    Per 36

    Kevin Martin: 25.9 points
    Monta Ellis: 21.5 points

So Ellis shots 0.5 more than Martin, while scoring 4.4 points less. Regardless of whether or not he's a chucker by NBA standards, he's definitely a chucker compared to Martin.

Misleading measure. Martin's points come off of free throws which use a possession but don't count as a FGA. Ellis actually has the higher FG%.

Ellis also rebounds more, gets over TWICE as many APG (how's that for a ballhog?), gets an extra steal per game, and is younger.

    Ellis > K-Scrub

Wait, are you joking? Your saying monta and martin have the same ability? Wow, dude you need to watch some gsw games. Monta dominates the floor offensively through his scoring BUT the difference lies at the defensive end. Monta's defense demolishes martin's ability to guard stud players and the quicker 2 guards of this league. Ellis for kmart? Yessir!

Monta Ellis didn't look too much like a ballhog in this game.

You people actually think that this player can't help the Rockets?

    KMart 10-11 season 7.4 fta 8.4 ftm
    career 5.9 6.8

    Ellis 10-11 season 4.3 fta 5.4 ftm
    career 3.6. 4.6

What's wrong with drawing fouls and shooting 90% from the line?

You're right about Ellis shooting better though, career .469 from the field, while Martin's career % is .445

Personally I'd take Martin, Just more of a team guy IMO.

Monta Ellis is a beast, a great scorer but poor defender. Doesn't shy in the clutch and have some great handles. I can see Monta being great for this team. He's a cold blooded scorer and besides Martin and Scola, who else can really score on this team? Everyone knows Rockets go thru these famous scoring droughts and having Monta, Martin, and Scola on the floor at the same time may just be the ticket. Add a great defender or two in the paint and this guy would work out very well.

There is a reason why GS is shopping Monta. Really over the last 2 years or so they have been trying to get rid of him. We don't need him with K-Mart on the squad. Doesn't matter which is better, they both can score. What everyone seems to be forgetting is K-Marts getting to the line puts other teams in foul trouble. Stop hating. Monta is and always will be a chucker.

Monta can score slightly better than K-Mart imo, better playmaker and bball-iq.
He's younger and has more upside on D.
    Get it done.

Are you guys really going to ignore that Monta Ellis averaged over 2 steals a game. The guy absolutely plays defense. Some people on this bbs have such a skewed view on player evaluation. Monta Ellis is everything that we wish Kmart was. He doesn't shy away from the contact. He loves taking the last shot. He plays the passing lanes. He drives and kicks out on a normal basis. He can make something happen when the play brakes down. He maybe the quickest man down the court in the entire NBA.

Also, to those who say, "oh but even GSW is looking to trade him", there is a demand for him out there. Also for all "efficiency" haters out there... Monta Ellis shoots a better fg percentage as well. Also, Monta averaged 5.6 assists a game from the SG position. This means he is creating a lot more shots for the team when he drives and dishes than Kmart is at 2.5 assists a game. Btw Lowery averaged 6.7 assists next to Kmart while Curry averaged 5.8 assists. So the pg's took about the same amount of assists away from the SG.

Monta Ellis is hands down the better player. Open up your eyes people.
