Shaq already told ya'll . . . He tried to pass the baton to Penny . . .then Kobe . . and finally DWADE I guess in time. . DWADE may pass it on to LJames Rocket River
You could easily argue that Wade is better than James. I don't think Wade is anywhere near as good as Jordan. Jordan is the greatest, tbd if anyone ever passes that.
this is the simple, fundamental problem of being a prisoner of the moment, catalyzed by the internet/information age we live in. we have shows dissecting every moment of every game, replayed 24/7. it's psychological reinforcement when you hear or see something over and over again, you begin to believe it and you begin to lose the ability to fairly make comparisons. if jordan received the same type of coverage as lebron, it would be no question that jordan is that much greater. add into the facts that the era that jordan played in was a much tougher, meaner brand of basketball. i have no doubt in my mind that if jordan played in the same rules as today, he'd be averaging 35-40+ ppg. you think the pistons of the 80s would allow lebron to drive unscathed to the rim. no, they'd pummel the living snot out of him. jordan was so mentally tough that he'd get up and do it over and over again. as we've seen throughout lebron's career, it remains to be seen if he still has that same killer instinct. furthermore, is it any coincidence that all the lauding and the praising lebron's received about being better than mj came when he's a member of the miami heat? lebron's essentially playing against single coverage. mj's never had a teammate with the offensive skillset as wade or bosh. let's be real now.
No, it's not. The rings come into play, but if you watch the game you know who's better. How do the rings come into the argument? It's what the player accomplished, and how he dominated to get those rings.
It can be argued that LeBron might no even be better than Kobe was in his prime.....and Kobe was NOT better than Jordan. Pippen should be smacked for his disrespect. Jordan was the greatest player to ever play in the NBA. What dominance!!!! 8pts in a Finals game........and this isn't the first poor performance. GTFO of here Scottie.
What? Did you not watch LeBron at all when he was in Cleveland. The 38/9/9 series against Orlando? the final 25 straight points to lead his band of scrubs against Detroit in 2007? How the hell could you think he's all hype? Heck, even this year, up until this series, he's put on some amazing performances. He completely destroyed Boston and Chicago down the stretch. Half the posters here thought those teams would beat Miami. MJ was great but I swear as time goes on his hype gets bigger. I really wonder how many of you actually watched him play and how many are just going by the youtube highlights and box scores. He didn't "dominate" for 2 decades. He dominated for a lot closer to one, considering he took two years off. He was at his best when he was younger, before he won anything (just like LeBron.. because he had to put up bigger performances just to take his team anywhere). For much of his career, people didn't think he would win anything, just like Bron.
Wow, I really couldn't disagree with your post anymore. Jordan has become so overrated as time has gone on. People forget that players back in the 80s and 90s weren't nearly the physical freaks they are now and he was being guarded by guys like Craig Ehlo, Terry Teagle, Byron Scott, and Jeff Hornacek. There was also much stricter defensive rules-- you could handcheck, but you were really limited on doubles and traps. It was just a different game and you have no way of stating that players today couldn't compete in it. I think it'd be the other way around because, like all sports, basketball has evolved and a 6'8 athletic machine like LeBron would pound the hell out of the scrawny defenders of that era. And let's not even talk to how watered down the league was in the early 90s with all of the expansion.
The best shooting guard. Best player is Wilt. Other players I would build a team around before Jordan are Kareem, Magic, and maybe Hakeem.
I stopped reading after the first sentence. Put Wade on the Cavaliers during the time LeBron was on that team, and see if Wade can carry the Cavaliers to the Finals against SA. Wade couldn't even see the ECF post 2006, until this year.
First of all, let me say that I think Jordan IS better than LeBron. However, I do not agree with the notion that one should measure how "good" a player is by how many rings they have. Basketball is a TEAM game, and winning rings depends on how good of a TEAM you have.
in 126 playoff games from 91 on, mj never scored less than 17 and only scored under 20 three times. lbj has 12 playoff games under 20.
