I'm pretty sure if this cop was being followed around by the "Cops" television show...then his response would have been much different than what we saw here. lol

You cannot say they failed in their jobs because they didn't arrest the bodyguards. You could find those guys in a second if more info comes out and it is justified.

Their job in this instance was to make sure this guy got medical attention, take the reports, turn in to DA. Most likely some of these bodyguards are former LE, which unfortunately means the cops believe their story.

I agree it is a good move to use in a trial, but in real world criticism of police it is weak.

I was just at the airport last week and was thinking that HPD at the airport don't do ish!!

I mean they just sit there. They're more of an information desk than anything at this point.

to not recognize the unprofessionalism and appearance of bias by posing for pics w/ labelle after this incident is weak.

11s - wobbles to his right towards the bus.
22s-24s - zombie mode walking. I have a friend that walks just like this when he's smashed. It almost looks like he's lost function in his right leg.
29s - another hard wobble to his right.

This guy is a senior cadet and a starting football player. Unless he was previously suffering from a foot injury, there's no reason a trained soldier/athlete should stumble like that unless intoxicated.

Did they pose before or after? After their job was done, celeb was there, why not?

Also let me be clear, I hate airport cops. I got a ticket at Terminal C in IAH for not pulling up 20 feet further after a car parked in front of me left. I pulled up behind a car, my passenger got out, car in front of me left, and cop flagged me forward when I was already unloading. That mistake was $150 and almost an arrest. You guys are killing the cops for some BS instead of possibly filing a false/biased report.

It can be seen as the celebrity doing a favor for the cop either in return for a favor completed or a favor in the future. This is a big deal.

Again, if the cop were in his civies it wouldn't be nearly as big of a deal but as a representative of HPD he cannot look biased.

In ethics, its called a violation of his fiduciary duty.

Wikipedia: "A fiduciary duty is the highest standard of care at either equity or law. A fiduciary is expected to be extremely loyal to the person to whom he owes the duty (the "principal"): he must not put his personal interests before the duty, and must not profit from his position as a fiduciary, unless the principal consents."

In this instance, the general public is the "principal" for a police officer.

Their job ends, when they are off the clock just like every other employee. If they are taking a police report and taking photos afterwards, it would be incredible timing.

My guess is the west point cadet was drunk and went full Rodman, getting under the body guards' skin and provoking them. I doubt they would have went after him for no reason.

Still, they were wrong for their actions. They're job is to protect from physical harm not verbal.

yea, it was extremely unprofessional of the cops. The fact that the story was turned in so one sided and then you see them as fans of her, the ehtics violation and conflict of interest right there is just extremely uncomfortable. When they are in uniform in tax payers salary and service, that is unacceptable.

The cadet drunk or not, even if he said something offensive, fact is from the video we could see he was not a threat. When he got bumped, that guy put his chest in front of him, he pushed off and took a step back. He was never an aggressor, the body guards, however provoked, escalated a situation that did not have to be escalated and the consequences were huge. 2 years of this guys life, injuries, reputation, set back in sports, and life were the cost for him

That's not what happened at all. The only thing he did was push the guard at 1:35 after the guard put his hands on him and tried to move him back with excessive force. Why was it excessive? Because he started already to walk away.

When I smell alcohol on someone I don't beat them up. It's as if Patty Labelle thinks she has the right to hit someone if she thinks they are drunk.

No amount of money will make up for this. The bodyguards should be convicted of assault, the police officers should be fired, and LaBelle should be sued for 90% of her total wealth.

They bodyguards are smart and know the law. After that slight arm extension by the cadet they had the right to rough him up. The alcohol doesn't help.

Cadet got owned and will not be able to do anything about it.

if cops do something that can be a good move to use at trial and can result in someone that is obviously guilty getting acquitted based on a perceived bias by the officers, how is that not a legitimate real world criticism of the police? i'm not saying that's the case here, but if you continue to allow this kind of behavior, that's going to happen. it's sorta the reason a double murderer got away with it 16 years ago.
