Ended Djokovic's 48-match winning streak, now has a chance to finally take down Nadal on the red clay of Roland Garros - all after pretty much being an afterthought to win mjaors (esp this one) at this stage in his career.

if he can pull it off on sunday, it would be BY FAR his most impressive title.

Over the years I have not been his biggest supporter, but man has he won me over. I'm pulling for Roger on Sunday. Classy guy who is forgotten for no apparent reason. Federer in 5 over Nadal.

it'd def be his most unlikely

most impressive? I don't know, he was blasting through grand slams losing almost no sets and just obliterating great opponents in the past. I guess it depends on how you define impressive.

Either way, it'd be cool to see it happen.. I don't care who wins between the 2 on Sunday. I'm pulling for a great 5-set match (and I'm predicting Nadal in 4 sets)

Great win today for Fed against No Joke -- it's going to be a classic final.

What a great match! Pulling for Federer but I can't see him beating Nadal on clay.

I've seen so many historic matches between Federer and Nadal. I just wanted to see a great match. Wimbledon a couple years ago came to mind in terms of epic matches. I do feel it will be Nadal in 4 sets though, similar to how Federer beat Djokovic today.

He's not an automatic favourite at every tournament he plays anymore but he's far from an afterthought. At every major you'd put your money on either Federer, Nadal, Djokovic or Murray (to a lesser extent), and possibly even Soderling to a much lesser extent. If anyone else were to win it would be a major surprise. I was hoping Del Potro would join the elite 4 but injuries have stymied his progress.

If anything I think the top 4 are now much more competitive, whereas a couple of years ago you'd expect Federer to win every time outside the French. I do agree with you though, that if Federer beats Nadal on clay as the third seed it'd be his most impressive grand slam victory. His only French Open crown came after defeating Soderling in the finals, who took care of Nadal for him.

Yea, I can't wait for this final. I watched some of the semifinal that Roger had against Djokovic. Hate to admit it, but I was pulling for Djokovic, simply because of his streak and that Federer has been so dominant for so long. But if he wins this final, like others have said, this will be the GREATEST win in his illustrious career. Think about it - he had to beat the guy that would have been #1 in the world and was undefeated for the year in the semifinals and then beat a long-time rival that has always had his number in this tournament. You can't have a tougher road to win the French than what Roger is going to have to do. I hope he wins and I would love to see an epic 5 setter (which is what normally happens when these 2 get together).

well, that will probably do it. hope im wrong, but look for nadal to win in straight sets now. fed blew a golden opportunity going for that drop shot on set point when he had complete command of that point.

Federer would have to win 3 out of 5 sets now to win the match right?

Yes,but's it's impossible. If he hadn't blown the 1st set,he would have had a chance. Still love Roger.

Not impossible at all. Tennis has the ideal scoring system for comebacks.

You can be down 2-0 in sets, as long as you start winning 2/3 points, you will win the match. Not many sports are like that.
