I never knew there was a contest... Seems like I may have ruffled some feathers or in other words "kicked the donkeys ass!".

To call me simpleminded shows that you are a real classy person, since I never resorted to name calling in my post. If you don't like my opinion then state it, but you don't need to resort to abusive statements like that one. Only thing you do by that is prove my point.

    You are right, great assumption...

    Demos +5 in the Senate
Demos take the majority of governorships
and who cares about the House (ok, ok Demos +1 in Iowa).

The advantage in governorships gives the Democrats the 2004 Presidential advantage, when the ability to recount or not to recount comes under Democratic control rather than Republican party control (provided recounts can be conducted before the ultimate Supreme Republicans step in).

The ability of the democrats to negate the evils of the Republican party gives me the ability to freelance and vote for crazy son of a b****es like Ventura (please run for president; you're a weirdo but you're honest and as politically manipulative as a rock).

How can you refer to me as being simpleminded?!? My intellect is without peer.

Don't feel bad, Jorge. You're still the funniest guy on the board. Though Phi83's gaining on you, thinking anybody's actually taking him seriously. Is he your son, or what? Here's a good challenge for you, T_J: Find anyone on this BBS -- ANYONE, left or right -- who finds your intellect or your style particularly impressive and I'll shut up for a full day of your choosing. I know, I know...

    "CHALLENGE REJECTED"

    CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

I have a vast army of "quiet supporters" on this BBS and I am quite confident at least one will step up and defend me. I look forward to choosing your day of silence.

Batman - In all seriousness I do in fact find T_J's intellect impressive. I don't want to flatter him too much, but his posts on economic and political issues are very informative and he is well read on both subjects. If somebody can back up their show-boating, then it's justified, and although T_J takes it to the extreme many times, he can back it up.

Is there anyone without the letters 'xxx' in their moniker willing to support TJ?

j/k... I know TJ's views are a dime a dozen, and there are plenty of people that are probably impressed by his views.

I am actually not motivated by his views one way or the other, because I do not take him seriously. He seriously trys too hard, with his "look at me, look at me, look at me" bravado. He's like a 14 year old that constantly trys to see how much he can get away with.

TJ, you may impress people with your style, but realize you're capturing that Jim Rome audience. Jim Rome is an idiot... but he gets tons of crotch-grabbing r****ds to listen to his show. If that works for you... fine.

"A vast army of 'quiet supporters?'" Kind of reminds me of the "Moral Majority." I bet you really miss them...

Anyway. Fair enough. You won't hear from me the day before the election. It'd be a lot more impressive if it came from one of the regular posters from either side (Max, Ref, BK, Freak being among the ones who generally share your opinions but seem considerably less than impressed with your intellect or style), but fair's fair.

I've asked you several times to explain your baffling use of the word "rookie," as it translates to "newbie," and you use it almost exclusively towards people who've been here longer than you. You tried and failed at explaining it before when you said you don't care about registration dates or post counts (I don't either, by the way), which is a bizarre explanation since the very nature of the word implies that that's exactly what you're criticizing. So, tell you what. Explain what in Yahweh's name you mean by that apparently nonsensical insult and you can shut me up the day after the election, too.

Crotch-grabbing r****d? Is this pointed at me? I am hardly a drone-follower of anybody. Like T_J, I also have a degree from Rice (actually 2, but who's counting). And no, I didn't know T_J from my Rice days.

Bottom line is T_J has a lot of depth and knowledge from a conservative point of view and there are many who agree with what T_J says, but don't necessarily care for his win-lose debating approach. As is the case with the media, the liberals seem to be the most vocal people giving off the impression that they are the majority, but I would suspect that if you took an anonymous poll of this board, the views of T_J (without the all caps, etc) would be the majority opinion.

Hey man, I'm sure plenty of people agree with T_J's opinions. If not, Rush Limbaugh wouldn't have a job. Parroting rhetoric straight from the GOP platform is easy enough. Peppering it with absolutist cliches is even easier. It doesn't take a genius, which is why I bet on his hilarious self-proclaimed "intellect." I'd venture a guess not a single person agrees with his style, but then he's already (proudly of all things) admitted it was some kind of carefully crafted strategy (of all things) to win debates on a Rockets BBS.

On your poll suggestion and your suggestion that liberals just scream louder, everybody thinks that their opinion is right and most people are arrogant enough to suggest that most other people agree with them and just aren't being heard (a la the Moral Majority which was, as the bumper stick went, neither). It came as a great disappointment to me when I realized, around the age of eighteen, that most people aren't secretly liberal but are quite un-secretly swayed by popular winds. But if that doesn't help, try this: if T_J's opinions were anywhere near the majority, Pat Buchanan would be president, there'd be an assault rifle in every pot and Mexican-American would refer to a cuisine and not a people.

There are relatively extreme conservatives and neo-conservatives on the BBS who I think really bring a lot to the table either substantively (theoretical, intellectual, creative) or style. Sorry, I haven't come across them in the relative recent postings in this thread--frankly most of it is regurgitated, mindless, Rush Limbaugh babble. Some of these guys posting this stuff might be really smart and quite learned, but it hasn't come through in any persuasive way. Also, I could care squat about where someone got their BA (or whether they have a degree at all), I knew plenty (obviously many exceptions too) of Stanford post-graduates who have no shortage of ignorance.

Liberals are so convaluted, do they realize that most conservatives can see what is put forth by the media and make our own opinion. Rush Limbaugh is always a target for the libs, but most conservatives are smart enough to defend a position with out his help. When your right your right!

As this thread has progress all the liberals have done there best to be as nasty as possible without being able to defend there position. Democrats can only name call and have no ability to back what they are saying. It takes backbone to hold a position with facts and not try to sway opinions with snotty comments.

I hate to brake it to you Batman, you sound pretty ignorant with your most of your retorts... When TRYING to use the big words, make sure you use them in the right context. I understand that you are probably a pretty passionate person with your convictions. But when you present statements like you have, you sound incoherent and uninformed. Please debate with facts like RM95 or rimrocker (I respect their opinion, even though I don't agree with their point) instead of stupid coin phrases and passages from your copy of Psychology for dummies.

Phi83 - You are brave indeed and should be commended for holding your ground against all these Dems coming down on you like this. Come November 5th, something tells me you will have the last laugh. :)

Absolutely Paigey [sorry for that ref :) ].

Phi, take lessons from the above person. Why don't you try a search by "mrpaige", read through a few dozen of his posts, and you might see how a conservative can be extremely persuasive (even if he may start with a different assumption than a liberal might, the logic and thoughtfulness underlying his position is clear).

I am not even going to mention this to TJ because I a guessing he is way too set in his ways and personally enjoys himself mentally masturbate in public way too much. As best I can tell his aim rather than to persuade others to his view or get others to think a little bit differently is to try to convince himself he is right and/or smart.

Thank you for another zero content post!!!

Since you seem to be good at name calling, I will assume from this point forward that you are a closet liberal and these posts are a desparate cry for help.
