Except Rudy T was a lifelong Rocket who loved this city and team while Kevin McHale when playing against the Rockets in the 1986 NBA Championships signed autographs with "Houston Sucks". On top of that even though he was born and raised in MN and an All American at the U of MN still screwed over the MN Timberwolves by turning them into a farm team for the Celtics. If we wanted a former star who can inspire a team we should've gotten Mario Elie.
Ok, so Rocket related former players for coaching, Mario Elie, Larry Smith, Moses Malone and Vernon Maxwell, sounds very intimida..... errr inspiring.
Thats how you build your team by getting top 5 picks in the draft, so that could be a way to go. All the dynastys usually built thru the draft.
My attempt at linking to Carl Herrera's post in [ClutchFans] Would you feel differently if McHale had been a Rocket? thread didn't seem to go as planned. He put a link in post #9 of that thread to an interview of Jim Peterson by the 610 evening crew. McHale sounds more RudyT than other coaching options. Which supports my reference to them sounding alike on fun teaching the young guys the game. Some 80's style doesn't sound too bad. The other 2 interviews with McHale which have their own threads show cased him positively some. BUT it's still wait and see. Darth Vader is taken and trade marked..... so maybe Darth Lurch.
And on the enemy thing, Clyde and Charles used to be the enemy too. 1 worked out very well. The other, unfortunately gave his knee to the cause. And McHale was there in 81 as well to help beat the Rockets. Let's see what can do for us.
