Are you blaming him for Yao and Tmac's injury?
What did CD bring us? The 7th pick that was killed by the train? The 14th pick of Nachbar who was a total crap? 6 year full MLE in Swift? Bob sura? Rafar Alston? Loser Head?
Look what DM had achieved with much lower picks and these garbage contracts? Brooks, Landry, Chase, PPT, Lowry, Scola, Llull, 1 year rental of Artest which brought us to 2nd round?
Talking about investment banker, DM will be a damn good investor because he has the guts to admit mistakes and changing his direction rapidly based on the situation.

You misunderstood, me, BMoney. I was being sarcastic. Recently, I been reading endless slams at Adelman aimed at "defending" Morey from criticism (some fool who joined this month has been posting 32 times a day here doing pretty much that by attacking Adelman). It bugs me no end that some here feel the need to do that. Why does Adelman need to be assaulted, usually with crap that members pulled out of their hats, in order to "explain" Morey's (and Alexander's) actions at the end of the season, when the most logical explanation is that Alexander simply decided that he didn't like Adelman, for whatever reasons spinning around in that noggin of his?

Some examples? (some of the milder ones) Not to pick on dobro, a quality poster, but they illustrate what I'm bugged about.

the front office made the mid-season trades that forced Rick Adelman against his will to play the players that really created a winning formula and sky rocketed them into on of the hottest teams in the NBA in the last 5 weeks of the season.

I've read this angle numerous times, and have yet to see proof that Morey made those deals in order to "force" Adelman "to play the players" some thought he should be playing. In fact, they saved us money, the most likely reason, considering how awful the two guys have proven to be. Battier? This deal happened when the Rocks were still fighting for that last playoff spot. Their main roadblock? The team Battier was traded to. I don't know about anyone else, but were I coaching the Rocks, I would have been livid. How did that work out for the Griz? Pretty well. That real tall guy we got in return? He proved himself to be useless. I hope we can make something useful out of the guy, but it doesn't look well at all. This "sudden" improvement in offensive play by the team? It could be as easily explained by the passing of the trade deadline and a collective sigh of relief that those remaining were still here, and the continued improvement of execution on offense we'd seen as the season progressed.

I just cant get over how quickly Adelman became a fan favorite after his contract was up. Six weeks before everyone on here would have heavily welcomed the idea of a new coaching staff next season.

Oh, really? Rick Adelman was a fan favorite here for most of the time he was coaching the Rockets, with most of the fans giving him credit for managing a winning record with a team made up of role players, with those two guys sitting on the bench in suits. 22 game winning streak, anyone? Yeah, it was only after his contract was up that "Adelman became a fan favorite." With all due respect, what utter BS. "Six weeks before everyone on here would have heavily welcomed the idea of a new coaching staff next season." Is that right? Golly, I must have missed it, being busy singing his praises, along with a lot of other people.

Actually the winning formula was more about the players that were playing then the ones that weren't. Those players that were traded just werent a good fit this past season and into the future but the front office saw this first before the coaches obviously.

Adelman played the players who proved themselves on the court and in practice. The players that showed the intelligence to run his complex offense. Players like Budinger, who he stayed with all year, despite Bud having a horrendous season a vast stretch of the time. Players like Patterson, who saw his minutes increase when his level of play on the court increased. Battier? Along with Miller (injured much of the year), Battier was like having another coach on the court and was, in my opinion, a huge asset in teaching the young guys what to do on the court on defense and offense, particularly during the games. I think he proved his worth to Memphis, who happened to have a much longer season that we did. Battier was a part of that. The "haul" we got for the cat we traded Rudy Gay for? A lottery protected future 1st that is likely to be a very low one, whenever we manage to get it. Oh, and that tall guy, a high lottery pick the Griz were thrilled to dump, who has still proved absolutely nothing.

He did great for the time he was here, but just like Battier and Miller, he isnt really a great fit for the future of the Rockets. Morey and the rest of the front office obviously have a good feel for putting players around who mesh well so I trust that their methods will continue to keep this organization winning until they are finally able to snag the big fish. Which I believe Mchale and his connections accross the NBA will help out dramatically with.

And this is based on... what, exactly? Oh, right. Your opinion. Thanks for that. I have plenty myself, as you know.

Fyi, the "garbage" that Morey put around Adelman to coach..... Im not sure who you are referring to here, but I happen to think that the Rockets have the best role players in the league with no superstar. But they are role players. Give it some time. One season isnt very long.

The "garbage" I was referring to were those two superstars in suits. That, and the last two seasons with Yao in that suit, the long, athletic defensive center Adelman never had, along with, more recently, Williams and Thabeet. The last two, based on what they've shown so far, are garbage. And "one season isn't very long?" How about 4 seasons, the time Adelman was here. Look at what he had to work with. The results are remarkable, or were, until he was fired and people here got upset about that fact. Now, suddenly, Adelman made one mistake after another. Sure. and I won't mention the deals that weren't made that could have helped Adelman put a better team on the court. **** happens.

I think we overrated RA's impact on this team. We mistake young player development and excellent depth for excellent coaching. Not saying RA did a bad job but most of our post-Yao success has had to do with talent, as is always the case. Calling RA a miracle worker or whatever is taking subtle jabs at our talent level which is underrated by everyone.

If he wanted to be an investment banker, he could have done that a long time ago.

The only fallacy I can think of that's bigger is that the post-ASG improvement the Rockets had is entirely attributable to swapping out one back-up PG for another one (and maybe dumping a starting small forward and getting nobody worth playing time in return), and had nothing to do with the easier schedule to finish the season and the players' improved resolve once they saw the trade uncertainty was gone and the playoffs were still attainable.

I don't get this thinking. The General Manager is the boss. This is like being offended that the CEO wants some input into who the VP of Sales is going to hire as his managers. The VP of Sales can handle it himself, but should anyone complain if the CEO has an opinion -- especially if it is a position that is important to his overall business strategy?

Yes, our lottery pick is protected. Meaning we give away the pick if we make the playoffs. IF we make the playoffs next year, the pick will likely be in the late teens.

OK for the sake of argument here, exactly what is the rationale for letting Adelman walk, passing over experienced assistant coaches to hire someone with less coaching experience and whose track record is a total fail? Also please explain how this will miraculously transform the Rockets' fortunes in the NBA West.

Dwane Casey's coaching record includes being fired for illegal acts while an assistant in college and a win % equal to McHale's as a head coach.

Your problem is that you seem to think a coaching change is supposed to transform a franchise when in reality this has never happened in NBA history. It is what it is.

Also do not miss out the point where this team was failing miserably this last season until the February trades which worked mostly because of the players that were traded. Players like Shane Battier and Aaron Brooks that would have played more minutes if under Adelman.

I would argue that the current team wouldn't have had the record it had if the front office would have listened to Adelman's wishes to keep Battier and Brooks and not give more minutes to Lowry, Patterson, Etc. Its all about the players here, not really as much about the head coach.

I don't why the Battier trade kept being mentioned as "addition by subtraction." That is just not true. I think durvasa has shown that Battier was in the Rockets' winningest lineup up until he got traded. As Deckard pointed out, not only we traded him but we also gave the very team we needed to surpass to get to the playoffs a very important piece. It was probable that if we didn't trade Battier, we could have beaten out Memphis and made the playoffs.

And now you are blaming the coach for "failing miserably" before the trades? How about blaming Brooks' injury (and his stinking attitude about contract extension to boot), Budinger's shooting slump, and Patterson's not being ready yet?

Yeah Battier was subtraction by subtraction, lol. The reason we sucked early is because literally every bench player except Miller underperformed (or in PP's case didn't play, which can also be on Adelman).

But just what is it then? What is the point of hiring a guy like McHale with such poor coaching credentials? Because he "interviewed" well? WTF does that have to do with putting a winning team on the court? How will that help the Rockets become contenders again? Throughout the years since their last championship, I NEVER questioned this organization's commitment to winning...until now. There is simply no way that this can be interpreted as a move to win more games. No, this decision was about everything BUT winning. This smacks of everything ancillary to what successful organizations do to win. And that is what really bothers me because all it will end up doing is waste MORE years.

I have been making that point. I don't speak for anybody else here, but I DO NOT think DM made the trade for that purpose. He's generally a longer-term kind of guy, which is why I keep grousing that he might not get us a center this year, and that he's likely to draft us at least one more PF. Nevertheless, the effect on this past season was positive, as far as the final number of wins goes.

It took Rick a while to adapt to this past season's players. Maybe that's just not a skill of his. Overall, I think he's great, and the same group of players, in the long term, would win less games under McHale than under RA. IMO.

Of the different players traded to/from the Rox, I definitely consider Battier to be a loss, and that Thabeet is only as likely as T-Will to ever help us, but I still like the trade. Those 1st-round picks are important.

FYI. None of the players you bragged Morey discovered are star level talent. Rocket fans tend to overrate our young players.

I bet a lot of investment bankers would love to be the gm of a nba franchise. Its a dream job for any sports fan. DM is not going to leave to pursue another career. He makes bank as a gm why would he go into investment banking. Im sure he could be a successful investment banker but hes the gm of the Houston Rockets he doesn't need that.
