I wonder if our defense would've given up the big plays earlier had Griffin not sat out a majority of the middle two quarters, though.
ISU rushed 33 times for 58 yds, and ISU runs the option much better than Nebraska does, sadly. Kansas St found success running a quick hitter to Darren Sproles up the middle, and he had a few big runs. Sproles is far superior to anyone Nebraska will put in the backfield. Roberson had only 23yds rushing. Both Roberson and Wallace are dual threats, that forced the defense to defend the run, and the pass. Jamaal Lord is a worse passer than Eric Crouch. Honestly, I feel this game may end up similar to the UNC game, because Nebraska's defense is just that slow. The Cornhuskers will probably put Groce on Williams, so Sloan Thomas or BJ will probably have big games, and Benson will find some room to break off a big run or two. I can't see such a one dimensional offense succeeding against Texas' defense, especially one being run by such mediocre athletes as Nebraska.
I'm saying blame our front seven, the primary guys responsible for stopping the option, not the entire defense. The offense sucked, but the defense should've stopped OU regardless.
Griffin got nothing the majority of the game. He only played 3 quarters......2 great quarters out of 3 isn't majority?
Yeah, but you're lumping the defense together as a whole to make that point. You seem to not have a problem isolating Simms when blaming the offense, so why can't we isolate the front seven from the secondary?
you want to know how this game will turn out? figure out the average weight of Nebraska's D-line. if it's close to puny Iowa State, UT will be able to run wild and will win comfortably. if it's closer to big UNT, Texas will struggle to run the ball, and it will be a coin toss.
i just want us to keep our 24 game non-neutral site win streak going. we haven't lost a home or road game since stanford '00. apparently we just don't like it when the crowd is rooting for both teams.
Christ, we're not gonna score 42 in Lincoln. We struggled like hell to top 40 against UH and Tulan and haven't sniffed it since then.
If Texas scores 40+ against Nebraska and wins, I'll put the following in my signature: "Simms sacked up in Lincoln I lost a bet"
Simms has indeed sacked up in Lincoln. Horns up 20-10 start of the 4th. With a win, Simms has earned Player of the Game.
holy ****... did you guys see Simms have his dislocated finger popped back into place and strut back on the field for a TD pass! i will never talk crap about him again. dude is TOUGH! and its about time GD realized that simms to williams is a winning combinations. crap, NEB just scored off a PASS while i typed this post! why can't we stop the option? everyone knows who's carrying the ball. its not like lord ever gives it up on his carries! why, why, why???
Mother****ing refs, I want to beat them featureless. I'm not sure what happened to the defense, tackling drills all week long. Simms was ****ing brilliant. One 86yd drive, and one 97yd drive in the second half. ****ing-A. And now UF is beating UGA, and Pitt has taken the lead against VTech. Texas-OU rematch in the Fiesta? I know its really, really unlikely, but it would be interesting. oh yeah. Texas - 3 game winning streak in Lincoln. Won the College Baseball National Championship in Omaha. Nebraska, its like home away from home. Texas, jr.
According to the Texas radio broadcast, the Nebraska fans showed their class by applauding the Longhorns as they left the field. Nice to hear.
