    ... if a nother Rocket scored a 2 or a 3?

I don't recall people whining when Jordan score 50 on 35 shots a game.

Is it possible that Steve takes the shots cause he has a better chance of making the shots then say ... Eddie Griffin?

While I admit that I have thought that Cuttino has never found a pass worth making ... I am disappointed to read so many feeling that Steve is not playing team ball.

Until someone else proves otherwise, I would rather have Steve putting it up 20+ times a game than listening to the clanking sounds of our other young 'stars'.

It's not that he shot so much, it's that most of his shots didn't appear to come within the flow of the offense.

I think everyone here will have to accept the fact that, whether he has a good game or a bad game, the majority of our losses will be blamed on Steve this year in some way or another. Heck, he gets bashed around here after we WIN games, so I won't let it affect me too much...

Maybe because his baskets cannot give Rockets a win.?

Actually, MJ's team were all involved in helping MJ got so many shots, many shots were easy baskets.
But few helped Steve in Rockets team.........................

RT has a lot work to do.

Steve could put up 30 shots and hit 50% of those, the team WILL still lose if there are no motion in the game. You need to get the rest of the team involved. So your teammates can go inside to get rebounds and got fouls and break down their defense AND create more open shots. A 50 % is still just a 50% if there is no improvement in other stats of the game. On other hand, if you get other involved, even a 35% FP will transform into 60% because your teammates are in position to get easy putbacks, got fouls and score easy basketballs from the foul line. Just looking at one aspect of a person's stat is always MISLEADING.
Steve is a great player, but just not suited for PG. Let somebody else to bring the ball upcourt. If we dont have anyone else able to play that role, plz get some else through a trade. Steve is not a rookie, he has more than enough time to learn to be a PG. I doubt he will ever be. It's just not his nature.

Of Steve scores 50 a game and we lose it proves nothing.

Great players make their teammates (and therefore their tems better).

It's a put up or shut up season for Stevie. He's got to lead this team to the playoffs.

jordan was not the point guard, and even still he found a way to put up 30+++ppg, shoot 50% for his career, involve his teammates, and win consistently.

where again is the francis comparison???

ps. i'm gonna start cracking down on these posts...somebody has to interject some common sense. it might as well be me.

I said this earlier, If Steve averages 14 pts and 10 assists and we win 50 games, that would be better than averaging 20 pts, 5 assists and losing 50 games.

Fact is, Steve is just not a good passer and quite frankly, I do not see him developing this skill. You either have court vision or you dont. I dont think it can be taught. Therefore, I will say that its not fair to critize him for something hes not capable of doing.

Yes you guys are absolutely right, its all Steve's fault, let me name the ways...
    1) his starting big men shoot a combined 3 for 19 in the game
    2) what should be his starting power forward gets caught smoking dope 3 times and gets suspended for 5 games
    3) Rudy the magnificient has his SEVEN FOOT 5 INCH CENTER setting picks at the 3 point line instead of trying to get position near the basket
    4) Rudy the magnificient has Moochie (the hairdo) Norris taking the spot of a small forward. Did he not know that Rice and KennyT play the forward spot and not point guard.
    5) Rudy the magnificient makes a trade for Rice who has done absolutely squat the past 3 years

But you guys are right its all Stevie's fault. Blame the one guy who's at least gives you an honest effort EVERY GAME

jsb you are the bomb, I never heard it put that way, but I dig it. Steve did what a star player should do for his team, when your starting power foward can't hit the side of a barn, and your starting small foward is moochie, furthermore Ming and Cato gave you 9pts between them. Just think if we did'nt have Steve.

This is so important it must be repeated.

I only have two additional words - Magic Johnson.

How long did it take Jordan to trust his teammates? Don't you think that Steve will begin to trust his teammates once he's got a squad that is trustworthy (and healthy)?

I never understood the Francis bashing. He scores 39 sets a career high and people still blame him for a loss. 39 pts is 39 pts it dosent matter who gets it. You need all the points you can get and if someone can get you that many points by himself you gotta take it everytime. Steve shoots b/c he has a better chance of making it than the majority of the team. He is the star on this team so he should try to play like a star. I think the issue is people know what steve can bring to the table they want to see what eddie and yao can bring if they try to be the star. I think its obvious we are best off having francis being the star than anybody else on Rockets. Francis is "The franchise" with the addition of yao and griffin that is still not going to change. so get used to francis haters

I see your point Rocketfan but Jason Kidd had 16 points and 12 assist and guess what?.....They won. And that is an example of winning, We have more talent than New Jersey does but the difference in winning and losing is how the ball is distributed. And i will bet money that if Jason was still with the Suns and during all star Weekend, he would start over Francis because of his willingness to distribute the ball.

Exactly, it took Jordan about 3 years to actually pass the ball. It is funny how many "fans" are not educated about the history of the game. Not even the recent history seems to be a question mark to most fans.

I wish we could get a point guard who's main objective was to pass the ball to other teammates. Then Steve could play SG, make alot of points while getting his shoe contracts, and everyone would be really happy.:D

Imagine how much $$$ Steve makes if every kid in China wants to suddenly "be like Steve". Cat even got a publicist or whatever.

Neither one can do it like Mooch, just being a pimp daddy...

    GTM baby GTM... ;)
