Yes I am a lurker.................But before you say anything about me being new to this board, I have watched the Rockets since 1989.

Did anyone see the Sac. game last night?

Well they were short how many key players?

    Did they play selfish?

One thing to understand is that Griffin was not 1-11 shooting in the first, second or third quater. He was not 1-11 until the end of the game. So Steve and Cat didn't pass to him because they knew he would not be able to knock down the shot. I taped the game and after looking at it once again. ERRRR. It shows that 8 of Eddies shots were not from passes from Steve or Cat. Yes Steve could have had 9 total assist had the guys knocked down there long range shots. Meaning that Steve was not passing the ball in assist type situations. You know that if everytime players hit the shot from a pass from Kidd, he would avg. around 18-20 assist a game. What I am trying to say is that a moving passing offence will bring higher shooting %'s even with low level talent. It is proven that ISO's will not when a game. Now I am in favor of Rudy calling ISO's , Pick&Rolls, etc at various times in a game but not 90% of the time. Eddie was shooting from rebounds and outside standing still passes to him which makes it hard to shoot high % shots. The offence should never call upon one player to win a game, NO MATTER how many shots have been missed. Don't get me wrong I am no hater of any Rocket including Cato. I just know that there can't be three or four guys standing still around the three point line for Steve or Cat to dribble, fake, dribble and then shot a shot. Yes he made close to 50% but at that rate Steve would have to have taken 45 shots and hit all of them to win the game. This is not the days of Wilt and his 100pt games.

I love Rudy and all of his good ideas plus his heart. What I am most wondering, is Rudy telling the guys to pass and move without the ball, and the guys are just not listening to him? Or is it Rudy is calling the ISO's? Does anyone have an answer to this?

    JLB,

Welcome. This is an excellent post, IMHO, and you're even rewatching tape, counting passes, and this is the sort of contribution the board never gets from a jackass like myself.

BUT, check out other threads and their topics before posting. Several other threads are talking about Rudy, the point guards, and our so-called offense right now. Your post would have fit in nicely there without starting a whole new thread and knocking another thread off the top page. Cheers. :)

Don't you fxxking get it. This is still a young team with many new players. There isn't a comparison between Kings and Rockets. I forgive for you comments because of your junior status.

If you're going to compare the Rockets injuries to the Kings injuries and rip the Rockets then you have to rip the Lakers. They're 0-2 with injuries and suspensions.

You didn't even address his points and you're trying to dismiss him because of his post count? Oh goodness...

JLB to answer your question, whether RudyT can't control his players or is simply continuing to call ISO's it's all ultimately his responsibility.

    Jlaw,

My comments and my understanding of the Rockets have nothing to do with how long I have or not have posted here. I am not trying to say that the Rockets are or should be as good as SAC. It was to show that even with SAC's two BEST players out they got it done by passing the ball. I watched the game and have many of other teams. All good teams have a moving, sliding, slashing pick&roll, back picks and most important is movement away from the ball. Eventhough Shandon Anderson was a horrible shooter he was allways moving without the ball and would sometimes come up with good numbers. No one on this team except Tito is as bad an offensive player than SA.

Don't get mad at me for stating my opinion.

And of course I know that the Rockets can get better but only if they have a good shooting night. When will they learn that they play best when they share the ball.

If the Rockets lost the way the Lakers have lost their 2 games, playing team basketball, but simply being outmatched by the opposing teams talent, I don't think so many posters would be so critical of them.

True! Has anyone else noticed how boring it is to watch the Rockets these days, the same ol' mistakes and non- team ball that the play make me disinterested to watch, They used to be at least fun to watch several yrs. ago, win or lose. I dont mind excuses for new problems (chemistry issues). But Excuses for the same notorious problem (NO BALL MOVEMENT!) is so disgusting, the only reason I watch Rudy's interviews is to see whats his excuse today. RUDY, get in your players faces and make them listen to you cause im sure your telling them to move the ball... Hopefully it isnt Rudy calling these plays if so, it is time for him to go. I still think the most underated coach is Jerry Sloan my .02, i know its not worth much here....
