    With the last tax cut, most people just spent it instead of saving it in their accounts so the banks could use the money even further.

    The larger problem is that consumers aren't really saving, so even though spending the rebate (all $200 of it) provides some short term benefits in boosting the economy, the other sectors in investment and finance aren't doing so great.

    At least that's what my professor tells me...
