REST OF ARTICLE: http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba/news/story?id=6593762 Now, it couldn't hurt if Butler came back, right? The question I have is, Butler has spent all that time sitting on the sidelines; if he DOES come back, I don't think he'll be in game form at all. Do you think he should see minutes? Or is anything, at this point, better than DeShawn Stevenson?
This dude is 6'7 with some muscle and quickness. They need him Shawn Marion, Stevenson, and Kidd to put in some work on Wade and James to have a chance.
I dunno. Could be a bad move, like when the Magic brought back Nelson from injury in the 2009 Finals and it totally screwed up their chemistry
But Stevenson doesn't exactly contribute to the chemistry of the Mavs. With that being said though, DS does play some underrated defense; I think his defense guarding Wade will be better than a spent Butler, 15-20 minutes into the game.
Basically preaching to choir, give him stevenson's minutes so he doesn't get Lebron mad again. Who remembers that ****, fail. Lebron vs. Stevenson Jay-z vs. Soulja boy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdluT_DOxw
If he comes off the bench he could be useful. Mavs vs Heat would be an entirely different story if Butler was healthy and contributing.
These are more likely just mind games meant to try to distract Miami in the preparations. Introduce some uncertainty into their preps, forcing them to practice for a Butler cameo. Can't imagine he'd be effective though if he did actually play.
They have like 5 days off now. So maybe they can see him in practice. If he can show rhythm and timing then he should be able to fit in immediately. If he shows any signs of rust then theres no chance. Dallas one weak on their wing. Butler would be a big help. I hope they use Brewer too.
