I wonder what the over/under on posts in this thread would be if I decided to find out how many times you'd try to get the last word. I doubt we have the bandwidth for it. I'll take Perry and Cornyn. GOP holds house, Democrats hold Senate.
man, you two are like mirror images of each other, just on different sides of the political spectrum.
I predict I won't like the winner of the Texas gubernatorial election. Unless of course everyone follows my lead and writes in a candidate, thus forcing a new election with different GOP and Dem candidates.
You know what is weird is in Arizona we are going to have a Democrat likely winning the Governor race over a very much Bush backed guy who has smartly stayed away from discussing his well right of center positions, what do these guys call themselves, "Chameleon Conservatives" or something like that Arizona currently has both senators and a governor who are Repubs, and Bush won here, so it is surprising to me the well funded and well supported (from Washington) Repub candidate out here is trailing by like 10%. I predict Demos narrowly win the Senate, Repubs narrowly win the House, and Demos make inroads in Governors races. I don't know Texas races so I can't speak to them, but the Repub state level folks in power here in AZ are alienating independents and moderate Repubs are defecting the party. I tell you a potentially real bad issue Repubs don’t want much exposed right now. It is the fact massive numbers of Doctors are going to drop Medicare patients when the new reimbursement levels go through. AARP folks get to the polls and few issues are more important to them than potentially losing their Docs—I am telling ya’ll this is as dangerous issue as there is to the Repubs right now. Not saying it is all the Repubs fault, but they are in power and people know this is coming, they are likely to take political blame for it. Let's see how much this issue gets played. One other tidbit. I was in New England a few weeks ago. What is really funny to me is the Repubs there sound almost exactly like Demos here (and probably in Texas too)—you can guess what Demos in NE and Repubs here sound like. There really is a split in our nation in worldview and where the political spectrum falls locally.
Well, The Big Race in California is obviously Bill Simon trying to knock off Gray Davis for the Gov spot. But that race is a distant second to the local election over here. The heated dispute is the effort to recall supervisor Gail Marshall when she openly protested the missuse of the American flag after a city council member had everyone lead a meeting by reciting the pledge of allgience. Marshall got furius and fired the council member for this.
If you're curious, here's the Karl Rove Powerpoint found in Lafayette Park at the beginning of the election cycle: http://www.politicspa.com/mehlman-rove_files/v3_document.htm
I predict: 1. Senate: Dems +3 2. House: Dems +4 3. Texas: Kirk, Perry, Sharp, and Watson 4. Florida: Bush Upset special(s): 1. Bowles over Dole in North Carolina 2. Governors' Races: Dems +7 (becomes majority of governorships)
I am sorry you feel that way, but the Democrats are not worried about the people of this country. They are only worried about winning, and they have shown that they will do every slimeball trick to achieve that goal. The Wellstone rally was a great example. Little class!!!
Republicans would never do anything classless. You know, like exploiting the death of a federal agent for political purposes. Oh wait, they're on the good side...it must be OK.
The best party of the whole Wellstone rally... Seeing pictures of Mondull and Clinton laughing there a$$es off. How can anyone ever want to defend a party that acts like that... Classless!
How do you know what they were laughing at? At the one (and only one, thank God) memorial service I've attended in my life, I remember laughing numerous times. Guess that makes me classless.
I am not saying you are classless, I am just saying the way the democrats acted at the rally were "unbecoming". This is not a attack on you personally. To boo Trent Lott who was there to show his respects to a fellow senator shows very little class.
I can agree with that. But you said that them laughing was classless. And since I've laughed at a memorial service before, I just assumed that you'd think I was classless as well. You still haven't answered me why it's not classless to exploit the death of a federal agent for political gain. Of course, you may not be in Texas and have no clue what I'm talking about.
I live in Houston, and I don't know which federal agent you are talking about. There have been numerous federal agent killed in action.
It's not classless because Tony Sanchez played a role in that death through his irresponsible actions. This is not "exploiting the death", this is informing the public and providing representations of Tony Sanchez's character.
