Some say we should tank now to get high picks who will be good in 3 to 4 years but face it the heat is gonna dominant the next 4-6 years and after that the okc window is still open so what is the point in competing too early cus our draft pick aint likely gona be Lebron and Durant and wade cuz most draft don't have that kind of 2003 talent so if we tank now we will just be mediocre compare to Lebron in a few years and we won't have high picks cuz our guys will be good by then so we should aim to tank like 5 yrs from now so we can be gOod after Lebron is old and gone and Durant is a broken man we should collect picks not for this draft but for drafts in 2016 or later that's the ticket.

This is true long term big picture thinking.

So your plan is to first be mediocre for the the next few years and then tank?
Great! I'm all in favor of planned mediocrity followed by planned suckage. What else can make a true fan happier?
You'll be able to tell your grandchildren how the Rockets bravely outwaited one superteam's window ... and then outwaited another superteam window, ... losing season after losing season... big picture thinking!

The heat are one Lebron or wade injury away from being 2nd round fodder. The best strategy should always be building the best team as soon as possible, and not waiting for some percieved team to crumble(by which time, another great team will have replaced them).

I think the Clippers beat you to this plan. They have been outwaiting the Bulls, the Rockets, the Bulls again, the Lakers, the Spurs, the Lakers again, now the Heat, etc. Who knew that Sterling wasn't just cheap, he was actually following a 30 year plan to compete in 2021.

Eh. If we tank next year and build around an 18-21 year old, he will be 22-25 in 2016. Just in time to contend after Lebron is over the hill. If we wait until 2016 to tank, we would have to wait again for all the superstars drafted from now to 2016 to get over the hill, and then we would have to wait until all the superstars drafted from 2016-2020 to get over the hill, and then we would have to wait until...

Your parodies are usually funnier with better logic. And more homosexual innuendos. That always helps.

If I was Morey I would seriously try and steal away Cleveland's 2015 first round pick that they got from the Heat.

For Rockets, the goal is to make the team interesting. Contending? that will happen after 20 years from now.

Epic post. There is never an appropriate time for tanking. Not as a fan.

Oh please, that's like saying "wait till MJ retires and then swoop in and win a few rings".

It just doesn't work like that.

If Chicago had a Kevin Martin instead of Keith Bogans and a Patrick Patterson instead of Carlos Boozer they'd probably be in the finals now.

I'd like to see how we'd match up with a strong defensive SF and Howard or Chandler.

We'd destroy them in the paint on both sides of the court, Lowry would destroy Chalmers, Martin could atleast match Wade in scoring and his ability to get to draw fouls and get to the line would not allow quick transition points (which was the Bulls downfall)

Not to mention the Rockets bench is deeper and more talented.
