For the love of Pete Yorn I wish it was Steve Kerr...

McHale will most likely be the guy. I'd be stunned if it wasn't...

Maybe Houston was waiting for TNT to finish their coverage of the western and eastern conference finals to announce the Kevin McHale hire.. I mean today could be the last game of the conference finals...

Frank Vogel will be our new coach.

...Or, it could be that Houston was waiting for the owner to interview all three candidates, the last having interviewed with him yesterday, so that they can all meet and discuss the interviews and make a decision.

Sometimes it seems like we fans make way more out of these kinds of things than we ought. So what if the interview process is taking longer than we want. So what if they interview a whole slew of candidates. This is their process. They've clearly thought it through enough to warn us of it beforehand.

To answer the OP, I once thought Casey would be the guy. But I only think that he'd be the guy if I thought that the Rockets were trying to compete next season. With RA's departure, I began to understand that the Rox are in full rebuild mode. They're about to start jockeying for draft position for 2012.

If they truly want Finch to take over in a couple years, then it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to hire a highly regarded coach-to-be now, so that they can fire him later.

It makes WAY more sense to hire a guy that could increase your chances of recruiting free agents, that may be able to communicate and understand the player on your team that has been labeled as having the highest potential. It would make more sense to hire a coach that understands what a GM must do in order to build a winning organization. For that reason, I think this is going to be McHale. And once his two-year contract is up, with Morey at the helm, I could see McHale becoming a consultant to help continue filling the holes of DM's GMing abilities.

If it's Casey, then I'll have to rethink my whole understanding of the direction this team is taking.

It also doesn't seem like Frank has much of a chance at this point.

Then again, with any Rockets prediction such as this, I'm probably wrong. In fact, I'm almost always wrong. *shakes an angry fist*

    :)

Morey will be the new coach. McHale will be the new GM.

Pfff... none of those guys compare to our guy, Rick Adelman. Only an idiot would trade a great HOF coach like Rick and trade him in for either of those three! :D

....uh-oh....wait...we actually let Rick go for one of these guys? WTF?

This. I guess my choice would be Casey, but if they're going to let Finch take over in the next few years, no sense in hiring a guy like Casey only to fired("mutually agree!";)) down the road here.

McHale's nowhere to be seen on the TNT halftime show of the Bulls-Heat game today. Could be he's on his way to Houston.
