AAC I live in Dallas so I visit the AAC whenever the Rockets are in town. I've been to TC and AAC several times and I have to admit, Mark Cuban and the Mavs know how to put on a show. It's a little pricey (like all sporting events) but they always have something going on outside and inside the arena. The shows at halftime are usually good, the food is good, and the place is almost always packed with fans. The TC is too empty at times.
One of the best? Are you sure? Good lord. If that is "one of the best", I don't want to see "the worst". And this is coming from somebody who lives within walking distance. At any rate, the neighborhood, even if it is "one of the best", doesn't deserve 5/5... not even close, maybe 2/5... unless you're rating it relative to other NBA arenas, which it doesn't look like this guy is doing.
Toyota Center is pretty awesome, but as a million people have said on here no way in the world the fans should get 5/5. Yes they get loud in the playoffs, but what fanbase doesn't? I have been to a couple of Aeros playoff games this year and it was louder than almost any Rockets game this season (we have season tix to Rockets). Except for the suites the Silestone Club areas are the nicest part of the arena. I got spoiled with club tickets this year for quite a few games from either season ticket upgrades, friends company tickets or a few that we bought. Yes they are overpriced a little (but comparably the same price level to most other arenas) but after sitting club level it is hard to go back. The bar and the food are top notch for an arena. It's so nice in fact that it leads to the huge problem of people hanging out up in the club at the bar and not sitting in their seats. When we first moved to Toyota the Upper Deck was extremely bland, but they have done a nice job of upgrading it since then (nicer floor, skycourt, etc.). The Summit was definitely better in my opinion for food, sight lines and parking. However, I hate to say it but in terms of amenities there is no comparison (suites, club seats, scoreboard). I do wonder when Toyota Center will do its first minor renovation as it seems many arenas and stadiums do this after about 10 years or so (see Minute Maid, AAC, many others). And while our scoreboard was the best in the league 9 years ago, it's starting to look dated compared to many, see Staples Center and AAC in particular.
This is true and I don't know why. Warriors games are a blast, even if they're playing a sorry team, which would make two sorry teams on the court. Maybe since it's more affordable than the Rox (I think, on average), then you get a greater cross-section of folks, and it's less corporate.
It is a pretty good experience, better than the Spurs venue and the Mavs too. I haven't been to too many others so it is hard to compare, but I have a great time in the few games I make the trip up from Austin to every year. DD
I think it's just our lifestyle. Houston is a laid back city in general. People goto places like LA, NY and MIA to party, but come to HTOWN to chill out.
