I haven't posted in here for a while. But since my last post I've dropped 20 pounds doing a combination of p90x and insanity on and off. I think I started at 255 and now i"m down to 235. These days I am just doing the insanity first months videos and doing the exercises from p90x (not using the videos cause it takes too long). I just noticed my before picture today, and the results are inspiring. Just want to say that these programs are legit and motivate me to do more. Trying to get to my target of 215 by end September.
Wow, I'm really glad I ordered those select tech dumbbells... I was doing back and biceps this morning and completely snapped the heaviest band in my set.
I'll have my official numbers next week, but as far as weight goes I'm down 19 pounds (hoping to get to 20!) ;] Verrry pleased with effort:results ratio.
The workouts are a whole different beast with dumbbells instead of the bands. I got the adjustable Powerblocks a few months back and even though they were expensive, I felt it was a great investment. You definitely get much more of a workout with the free weights.
As sad as it may be, core synergistics is still ridiculously hard for me. even now, in final week of phase 3, I still have to modify the crap out of that workout.
Kenpo kicked my ass today. I'm pretty sure that workout used to be a lot easier... 2nd time in a row I've gotten cramps...and the first time was because I had two beers in me.
I am officially on the bandwagon! Just completed day 1. I did better with the push-ups, pull-ups than I thought I would do, but Ab Ripper X totally kicked my ass. Whew! I am 194 lbs, but I want to get to 175-180. I'm sure this is already addressed somewhere in the thread, but how much did you guys increase your caloric intake? Apparently each work-out burns ~600 calories, right? I was thinking I'd bump up my calories by about 300 or so to make sure I still lose weight but have enough energy for the work-outs.
Anyone heard of this "Rush Fit" thing yet? A friend of mine, also a P90x grad, was telling me that he started it last week and he might like it better than P90x. Just curious if anyone else had tried it/heard of it.
Going trough insanity asylum (finished insanity) and each time Shaun T is like "go as fast as you can right now" I'm like "ok, slow." Then he says "but stay within your skill level" and then I'm like "ok, very slow then." He is much more pushy in this one. These fit marines are falling over at the end and Shaun T has the audacity to tell me to "try and go back and start it over." Fun work outs though. P90x and Insanity can get boring, and this is a fun change of pace.
Another day of Core Synergistics. I think the prison pushups and (surprisingly) the squat x-press are the most tiring to me. I never usually pause the workouts, but I paused twice for 30 seconds after those. And during the squat-lean-put 'em back-curl-press-reverse-down move, I was sweating bullets. Almost skipped the bonus round but then I remembered I have yoga tomorrow and that's it for Round 1! Trying to finish up strong.
Ok I just finished Day 1 of Insanity and it was WAY harder than P90X plyo. ...at least the workouts are a little shorter. But man, I couldn't come near the speed and reps of the people in the video. ****!!!
yesterday was my 2nd day of insanity and my quads, groin muscles and feet are killing me. shaun t is gonna kick my ass this summer.
uhm, so...do the insanity workouts get any easier? i went for a run this morning because i thought there was no way today's workout could be as bad as yesterday's. learned my lesson there. I almost quit during the warmup...
From my experience, no they don't. I lasted about two weeks but my knees/legs couldn't handle it. I did see some improvement in how much I could do but the workouts were still incredibly tough.
Got off to a rough start on p90x but am now halfway through week 3. The workouts have started out tough but gotten a lot easier. Had to travel a lot the past 2 weeks so I bought some bands but still feel like they don't do nearly as much as free weights do for me. Looking forward to the recovery week but from what I hear its just as intense or more as the rest of the weeks. Has anyone heard of P90X:MC2?
