Somebody on this BBS (especially someone in the know like Jeff or Clutch) might know the answer to this question -- Is there ANY chance that the Rockets will go back to their old logo and team colors??

Call me crazy (if you must), but Man, I MISS that logo and those colors!!

    :(

There is no way that they are having the same logos from the retro years. They have like a design contest at Rockets.com I think. They will be different.

Thanks for the input you're giving. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who enjoyed our old colors and logo!

BTW, the first two logos we had...SCARY! :D :D No, I'd much rather go with the logo we had from '72-'95.

Come on Rockets, BEAT THE NUGGETS!!

They won't go back to any logo. I would also say it is HIGHLY doubtful they will go to red and gold - or ketchup and mustard as they are called by some.

More and more, teams are going with relatively neutral colors because the changes can be expensive.

I will always wear the red and gold regardless of what uniforms these "Rockets" wear. I hate Les Alexander for taking our colors away. Or was it his wife...scumbags.

Can you imagine the Yankees, Celtics, Dodgers, Lakers, etc. changing their logo? Total bull****.

actually i think the current logo looks pretty good. the only problem is it just happens to be on our current uniforms also. the previous logo was cool but obviously they would never go back to a previous logo.

Why not? The Angels did. The Twins did. The Sonics pretty much did. The Pistons did. The Spurs got rid of that fiesta bullcrap and went with a silver and black court. The trend seems to be to go back to the good stuff. Why wouldn't the Rockets do it?

We don't have "good stuff" to go back to.

Down with the pimpin' red & gold... leave that back in the 70's!!

DOD nailed it. Trust me. Very few people like the old colors. It would be like the Astros going back to those hideous orange, blue and yellow uni's. It isn't like the old logo was a classic like the Yankees or Angels. It was utilitarian at best, amateurish at worse.

Red should definitely be a part on the uniforms given the team name, but that ugly-ass mustard color needs to stay dead. Let McDonald's keep it.

I think the current logo is too complicated & visually unappealing. The Rockets organization should come up with something simple but eye-catching... honestly, the first time I saw the current logo from tv I really don't have a clue what it's about... oh, & it looks very dull as well...

I always liked the old red and yellow/gold colors and the logo. I don't like anything about the new unis/logo. The teeth on the rocket ship look cartoonish. I've never liked dark blue on unis(Texans would have looked much better with red, white and black), but I think next to the pinstripes the thing I dislike most about the unis/logo is the style(font?) of the letters. Really, really, bad. Did Les do any test marketing before he decided on the current look?

At any rate, I understand if they don't want to rehash any of the old scheme(onwards and upwards).

Several months ago someone came up with a logo that looked damn good. Really professional looking job. I think it had some buildings(skyscrapers) on it with a ball similar to the 72-95 logo. The basic colors were maroon and gray I believe.

I think a maroon uni in the new satin finish I've seen(Miami Heat I think) with a secondary color of silver or gray with a logo similar to the one I just referred to would look good.

The brick red I've seen the 'Stros wear is a cool color too.

Just please, no teeth on the rocket, pinstripes, or navy blue.
    And change the lettering.
    IMHO

Just from this thread it seems there are a lot of people who like the old colors. Count me among them. Part of the problem this team has is that the stuff has no resemblance to the Rockets many grew up watching and the Rockets won champoinships in.

From what I have heard, which doesnt mean anything its just a rumor, the Rockets are going to keep the same colors/logo. They are just going to change the uniforms. Thats fine with me, I love the current color scheme, and I really dont mind the logo, in fact, I like it, but the uniforms need to change.

I couldnt give 2 sh!ts what colors they have, just as long as they burn the sorry excuse for a uniform they have right now. The garish over-done uniforms of the mid 90's have LONG passed us by. We are the last of a dying breed (like the last hair metal band - sorry Freak).

    Burn baby burn baby burn!!

Can we please get rid of that annoying, ridiculous teddy bear mascot while were at it?
