[Culture] Purse prank goes wrong

Yes, I seriously think the guy who started cursing, pushing, and taking off his shirt was likely to assault him.

And no, I don't think grabbing the purse back would result in assault.

I think 1910 might be more accurate. By 1950, negro was the common term.

 

The way I see it, if the purse is on a string then it's technically never out of the prankster's possession even if it's in the street. Thus, taking it is stealing.

It's absolutely possible that she was trying to steal that purse but I don't think that's what caused that ridiculous reaction. And, of all the black thieves, old women in mini vans with their families are probably the least common.

I think she was embarrassed and upset at the way she looked (It really wouldn't make sense to steal it at this point knowing someone is watching). And, she decided she was going to "fix" the prankster by driving over the string and taking the purse as if to say "see I'm not as dumb as I look, I out smarted you!" (which of course is still stupid, and really still stealing).

And the guy (daughter's boyfriend?), went into irrational protective mode...I've seen it before. That woman could have defecated on someones lawn and he would be fighting the grass for being in the way.

Why was race even brought up? Their reaction was obviously ignorant but what is more comical is people in here saying they know how black people do and will act in certain situations.
