14 assists would mean that the other players made the shots, steve can't make Griffin hit more than 1-11. or cato more than 2-8 stop bashing him. can i please become member of M.A.S.H????
Everyone's hero, Stockton, had 15 assists in a game against the Rockets last year. Guess what? The Jazz lost. Statistics aren't everything.
why are you so obsessed with the numbers assist francis had,if you don't think statistics are importent?do you really think that francis cares for nothing but his stats?if so i think he would like to have a ot of assist.because they are on the box score to
You know, you're right. Steve should have kept passing it to Eddie, instead of shooting it. Maybe Griff would have been 1-20. Steve should have passed it to Yao, also. Wait, when Yao was in the game, Steve was out. But that's no excuse. He should have been running the point from the bench, when he was suffering through a hip injury. Steve should have passed it to Cato. That's right. What? He missed two dunks that would have been Francis assists? Who cares? Steve should have passed it to Moochie. That's right. I wish Steve had passed the ball more, instead of shooting. Maybe the final score would have been 91-70. That would have been great. Francis passed the ball. The Rockets missed. Francis shot the ball, and he hit a high percentage. I'd say he made the right choice.
We need help fast. Why does Ming get only 11 or 12 minutes? Who that rookie of San Antonio from Argentina E. Ginobili? He gets 30 minutes in a loss to the Warriors. Jason Richardson had eight assists in his game against the spurs. Steve Francis had four. Who was the point guard? How many minutes did Hakeem average as a rookie?
Terence Morris too! but anyway we missed 4 very good players that is our teams role players, tonight we kind of played with the scrubs.....we didn“t have that deep that we can have
Let's see. How many days has Ming had to practice in a US setting? A week, maybe? How many years had Hakeem played US ball when he first started for the Rockets? 4 years. And didn't he have a whole training camp, too? We may not see Ming round into shape until January, or perhaps next year. As I recall, when Akeem was at U of Houston, he was a offensive stiff until the playoffs his sophomore year. That's when the turnaround jumper began to emerge, big time. Dave.
Heres how I see it. If Yao Ming has to sit on the bench as a third string center behind Jason Collier, this team has some serious problems. I mean were talking about a number one pick here who is playing behind Jason fricken Collier. thats not right.
I thought Collier looked horrible. We had absolutely nothing from the 4 position. Our back up 5's were horrible too. Yea, Francis and Cat scored and shot well, so did Artest and Mercer. That negated a lot of our advantage there. How beat up do you think Francis is today? I wouldn't be surprised if he's injured after that fall...
Cutting Torres was plain silly. Don't care how well Hawkins played in practice. Rudy is a poor evaluator of talent. Oscar would have fit better than Norris.
By definition a point guard.... sets up plays distributes the ball where others can score gets everyone else involved in the flow of the offense is a good assist player quarterbacks the offense finds the open man The Rockets do not have one point guard on the team Steve is a superstar and we need him but he is not a point guard, we would be a better team with Steve at the 2 and getting a genuine true point guard to run the offense.
Chris, You are asking guards that dribble with their heads looking at the floor, to make good decisions. They are not fundamentally sound. Nor do they have a coach to teach them or bench them when the big men are not being taken care of.
Diogenes, They would lose in 3 on 3! They play out of control and one speed. Basketball IQ is very low. They make the same mistakes over and over. Sad to see if they are your best players. SF got picked by Artest because he was being too cool. This a job. They play as if they are at Fonde! No playoffs!
Reyes, Rudy is saving him. Dumb! The whole world is watching and Rudy puts him in the 2nd! Don't draft him #1. Rudy will r****d his development. He has great skills. Collier can't make it on a Y team. Pair Ming with Cato and let Griffin play the 3 and help out in the paint. Not once did we see SF, CM, EG, KC&YM. Rudy is brain dead.
Its not that hard. Move the ball. Its not up to Francis and Mobley to dominate every possession with one pass or one shot. Elie and Horry distributed the ball to Hakeem just as much as Smith and Maxwell did. My point here is that just cause one is a guard who creates, that does not mean one dominates the ball and is responsible for the outcome of every possession.
Texas, I agree totally! The point is that Rudy doesn't have plays to run. The Bulls scored last nite when five guys touched the ball without a dribble. Rudy doesn't want 5 all around players on the floor. You have poor decision makers with the ball in their hands for 15 secs on every possesion. That is a coach mistake. No playoffs!
And we all thought John Lucas had sincere intention this summer when he worked with Steve. Telling him how to become a leader. Telling him he has what it takes to become the league's MVP. Now it looks more like he brainwashed the kid into thinking he's Jordan circa 1996. Unfortunately he reminds more of Stackhouse circa 1996
Rudy should have let Yao play more than Collier. Let the guy play more minutes even if he is sucking out there. It wasn't like Collier was doing any better. But I rather see the Rockets lose with more time for Yao to develop. When else can he do that? at practice? The preseason is over! These first 7 to 8 games will be Yao's preseason. Let him make the mistakes...let him learn.
