I do not like the Wizard b/c he is eating up the money we should be paying Mobley with. This guy is so slow, has no defense, and shoots a bunch of threes. I would like to ask everyone what are possible trades for the Wizard? I'll take anyone over Walt. ------------------
why would someone give the rockets anything for williams? a sack of balls, maybe, but not if they're leather. the guy is one of several one-dimensional scrubs being peddled as players only here in cc, best as i can tell. ------------------
Williams isnt as bad as u described him to be SwiftRocket..... ------------------ treasurer of the moochie norris fan club
Hey snowman the wizard is worse than what I said. He is one dimensional, he can only shoot the ball, he can't drive, cant play any sorta defense, and can't run the fast break. Why keep him? I can bet you money that the langhi kid will be an improvement over Walt ------------------
The Wizard played pretty good at the end of the season I wouldn't want to trade him. ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS
Well, he said Walt was "so slow, has no defense, and shoots a bunch of threes". I'm gonna defend him on that because quite frankly... he's right. ------------------ Just shut up and post
Williams is more than just a 3 point shooter. He also shoots the mid-range jumper pretty well and I remember at the end of last season, we use to have him coming off of picks to shoot the 18 or 19 footer. Also, Williams can drive. Not nearly as well as Mobley or Francis, but the man can drive, especially when his shot is falling for him. All he has to do is a simple fake or something and then Williams can drive past him OCCASIONALLY. Williams also played pg in Maryland, so this guy has decent handles. But yeah he's prety slow, and got no defense. ------------------ treasurer of the moochie norris fan club
"Well, he said Walt was "so slow, has no defense, and shoots a bunch of threes"." You sure that isn't Matt Bullard he's talking about? ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
i'm one of the few people on this board that actually likes the wiz. i don't see why you guys hate him so much. first of all he has plenty of drive, he's kind of like a poor man's magic johnson. albeit, a very poor man's. he's sees the court very well (that's from playing pg at maryland), he can flat out shoot, he can drive. he might not be the greatest defensive player ever, but he's kind of like glen rice in that department, he plays defense by playing good offense. sure he isn't going to flat out stop anybody, but he doesn't really weigh the team down too much. he's a very good ballhandler, and he's great at running the fast break, unlike you guys seem to think. i guess that's all. i just can't seem to understand why you guys don't like a 6-8 guy who plays a lot like a pg. ------------------ "When the mind is thinking, it is talking to itself." .... *shudder*... coming out of college he was heralded as being a Magic Johnson clone. But now? Calling him a poor man's Magic Johnson is an insult to Magic. ------------------ Just shut up and post
I like Walt. I just don't think he fits in with our plans. He's too slow when we're trying to go for more speed. His salary certainly doesn't fit. He needs to go, I'm afraid. ------------------ "I'll take a Dream Shake for two, please."
dr of dunk-- i said that he's a very very poor man's magic johnson, but that doesn't mean that he's bad. Gascon-- i think that he actually does fit in with our plans. we really need good outside shooters that will spread the lanes for steve and cuttino, plus we need veteran leadership. the wizard can provide both of these things and more. he gives us another person that can handle the ball and create his own shot, which is greatly appreciated. a scorer is always needed, especially if he doesn't have a huge ego that will bring down a whole team (i.e. asking for more playing time in the finals). ------------------ "When the mind is thinking, it is talking to itself." .... Please fill me in on all of the players that shot 65%+ the last 20 games that make less than Walt Williams. There are none. Hmmm.... how about players that make more than Walt Williams shooting at that clip? There are none. Walt is not a spot up three point shooter. He can come off of the pick with deadly accuracy or dribble drive for a quick shot. Every team needs someone that can keep defenses honest and Walt is that guy. Matt Bullard cannot shoot anything closer than 23' so comparing the two is asinine. Walt is tenacious. Most complaints about his abilities are ill-informed. ------------------ The ClutchCity 500.
Sometimes, I wonder if we are watching the same game WW can drive very well, thank you. For a 6'8" player, he has exception long arms which keep in-your-face blocks to a minimum. I would also have to say that WW's D is so bad that is good sometimes. His opponent get lazy, jack their J in his face, and WW will block most of those shots. Hmmmmmmmmm. WW is always trailing on the fast break since he is neither quick nor fast. WW also tends to make long, lazy cross court passes if he is "leading" the break. I don't think the Rockets will find takers for WW and his salary. I don't mind him staying as long as he comes off the bench and gets no more than 20 minutes per game. ------------------
Achebe and No Worries, walt stinks and he's the most overpaid sob in the damn nba. Let me ask all you Walt fans something : Will the rocks be seriously affected if Walt was not here? And will the money he frees up make a bigger effect than he will? To the first question I say hell no and the second question I say hell yes. Walt is replacable and we could find someone for half the price we are paying for him ------------------
All aboard the Walt hater's band wagon. Does anyone realize that once he became comfortable with the offense we started winning at a healthy clip? He was the variable that changed the most during the last 20 or so games. By the way, Juwan Howard is the most overpaid dude in the NBA. Rudy had been trying to get Walt for years and it paid off at the end of the year. Now, with that said, we might be able to find someone almost as effective for less, but he is not the weak link you are making him out to be. ------------------
I hate to tell you, but Walt was the reason the Rockets were winning at the end of the season. When his jumpers started falling, the lane opened up for Francis and Mobley. Langhi is going to be an improvement? You have absolutely no way of even suspecting this. Langhi is *completely* unproven, and when Walt was hot, he was a danger to score 20. Now, I agree that Walt isn't in our long-term plans, but let's make sure we have a shooter to fill his shoes before we trade him off for a pile of beans. We need a shooter. Langhi and Collier are untested. KEEP WALT! ------------------
Great. Now who do we get to play the other 62 games the rest of the season? I'm assuming we're paying him for an entire season and not for 20 games? Not a "spot-up" 3 pt. shooter, but he's a 3 pt. shooter and always has been a fairly good one throughout his career (among the NBA's best). He had great handles coming out of college but you don't see him handling the ball much in the pros because he's being used as a 3 pt. threat. After seeing his final few games, hopefully Rudy's found some plays for him. ------------------ Just shut up and post
Hey I think Walt is decent guy and upstanding citizen, but why have him on your team when you already have Matt Bullard? Hell, they both do the same thing. And one is paid considerably less. No Walt can not drive the lane well, he drives the lane slightly better than Chuck Person. Bring back Buck Johnson! ------------------
